Latha, wife of Rajnikanth gets a shocker from Supreme court today. The Supreme Court refused to quash the FIR filed against her and said investigations will continue into the case against her and she will have to face trial for fraud . Details as below.
The dispute started in 2014 during “Kochadaiiyaan”, starring Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone. Movie was directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya. Latha Rajinikanth’s Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd took loan of Rs. 10 crore from another firm, Ad Bureau Advertising, for the post-production work. But Latha’s Mediaone defaulted on payment and Rs. 6.2 crore remained pending. Ad Bureau had argued that Latha Rajinikanth, one of the directors of Mediaone, must take responsibility of fully settling the remaining amount. The Supreme Court agreed with that argument and, in February, had ordered Mediaone to repay the remaining Rs 6.20 crores within 12 weeks. SC specifically emphasized, Latha Rajinikanth would be personally liable for the repayment within 12 weeks.But Latha moved to Karnataka High Court again and Karnataka HC cancelled legal proceedings against Latha Rajnikanth, saying the case was not of fraud but breach of agreement.Today, SC quashed Karnataka HC’s order and as a result, investigations will be made into the case now and Latha will be put on trial.
