South’s action star Surya is popular to go to any extent to entertain movie lovers with different genre roles. Though his films may not turn out to be commercial hits, his hardwork is seen on silver screen. Suriya never failed as an actor though he failed as a hero. Fans have confidence on Suriya and he is getting ready to show his power in Telugu with Singam 3 (Yamudu 3) on Feb 9.
-You made movie lovers wait for long?
-Yes. I am excited more than all of you to watch the film on silver screen. Finally am happy the wait is over.
-What is the reason behind the delay?
-Reasons are many. We planned for simultaneous release in telugu and Tamil. Film got delayed due to Jallikattu issue.
-Your comments during Jallikattu turned controversial. Rumours spread that you made those comments to promote your film?
-I am not the one to make irresponsible comments for film promotions. I told what I thought and I cannnot face people saying something while keeping something in heart. I cannot talk about those who found fault with him or misconstrued by statements.
-Will the film’s delay affect the collections?
-We planned for Diwali. Had the film released during diwali it would have been good. There would have been 20% difference in collections comparatively. Even now nothing is lost as this is also good time.
-What is in Singam 3 compared to Singam 1, Singam 2
-Singam 2 rectified minuses of Singam 1 and in singam 3 the positives of both parts would be elevated even more. Part 1 is more of village backdrop, part 2 is in city and now Singham 3 is in overseas and how he shows Indian police power there is the highlight. Masses will love all those scenes.
-Will you continue this series?
-I would love to do it. It is a rarity for so many films coming from the same director with the same title. Mohan Lal did such experiments in Malayalam and after him only I got the opportunity. People will love to watch as many films as possible from James Bond series as the characterization will be strong and interesting. The way hero faces the challenges and overcomes them will always be new. Singam series too can be changed in such manner.
-You are known for realistic films? Compared to it Singam series is different? What differences you noticed in both of them?
-Even this also has realistic approach. Police may not fight as shown in reel life but the challenges they face will be quite difficult. Police risk their life and do some daredevilry acts. In films the same were shown in a dramatic manner. Singam, Singam 2 are screened in police academy telling them police should be in such manner. What more happiness one can derive.
-What qualities you like in Director Hari?
-Hari can deal any hero and he is fast and aggressive. His screenplay technique floors me. Hari aspired to become a cop but he turned director. Seems he is showing what ever he dreamed of doing as a cop on screen through me.
-People are waiting long for your straight Telugu film. When it will happen?
-You are talking about Telugu film. Even I would love to do it. I discussed about it with many directors. When we planned to set story and take it to sets, they are getting shelved at the last moment. So I will not talk about Telugu films but the moment it will go to sets I will inform everyone.
