Term it as ‘Pakka Deshapu Party’ or ‘party with no future in Telangana’, but people of the newly formed state still have hopes on Telugu Desham party. A recent survey conducted by Bengaluru-based Political Quotient, reveals that while 47.45 per cent of public want K Chandrasekhar Rao to continue as the Chief Minister, astonishingly, TDP leader A Revanth Reddy is the second preferred choice for the CM post with 19.16 per cent. He is followed by congress leaders – K Jana Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy. BJP’s Kishan Reddy and Laxman are not among the top five candidates for CM post.
KCR is the most preferred person and his party is the most preferred party in the state and 44.25 percent rated TRS rule as very good. The survey reports that the most favored party is TRS followed by Congress and TDP in Telangana. Surprisingly the BJP which is in power at the center couldn’t make it to top three.
Even when it comes to opposition, the saffron party is in third position with 16.89 percent after Congress with 33.56 percent and TDP 25.35percent. Another revelation is that, Revanth Reddy is the most preferred opposition leader followed by Jana Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Kishan Reddy and L Ramana.
KCR’s caste based policies worked in his favour as almost all the castes preferred his party except for Kammas who obviously prefer TDP. The number of people satisfied and dissatisfied with TRS government’s performance is almost same. The survey found no substantial change in the stature of the opposition parties Congress, the TDP and BJP.
The survey was conducted this year between April 2 and April 15 in 13,000 polling booths across Telangana, with a sample of 1,19,000 respondents.
