Susmitha Konidela, the name needs no special introduction in Tollywood. She is none other than one of TFI’s doting dads Megastar Chiranjeevi’s elder daughter and costume designer. Susmitha made her comeback to the industry with Khaidi No. 150 and now currently busy with her brother’s upcoming project Rangasthalam 1985.
As a stylist, she gave a fantastic makeover to her father Chiranjeevi in his comeback movie Khaidi No. 150 and the audience are quite impressed with her work. She has started her career as costume designer for movies like Indra, Jai Chiranjeeva, Andarivadu and Shankardada MBBS. After that, she took a break from films, after getting married and became busy with her family. She made her grand comeback as a fashion stylist with Khaidi No. 150.
Now, she is working for Rangasthalam and in this movie, Ram Charan will be seen in a never seen before avatar. He looks completely different and in a rustic look. Susmitha did a lot of research about 80’s costumes and designed his clothes in this film. In an interview with DC, when asked about her experience on working with her family, she shared, “Initially, I felt inconvenience to share ideas with the director during the shooting of Khaidi No. 150, but my father supported a lot. With that, I experienced a lot and habituated to the work culture. Now, for Rangasthalam my work became quite easy.”
Talking about Rangasthalam, “My brother will look different in this film and we have never seen before him in that rustic look. He never wears lungis at home. So, I did a lot of research, before started designing his costumes. Styling for him is definitely an easy task, as we behave more like best friends than siblings. So, I share my opinions with him without any hesitation.” As the film is completely based out of 80’s, the designing team of Rangasthalam bought costumes for Chitti Babu role in Rajahmundry and Polavaram local markets and also few in Hyderabad. She revealed that almost 80% of the film, the actor will be seen with lungis and they bought around 35 to 40 lungis of different colors for him in this project.
When asked about the balance between professional and personal life, she revealed to Sakhi publication that when Charan asked her to work for Khaidi No. 150, she wanted Ram Charan to convince her husband and he did so. That’s how her comeback to films started. She says, “My husband is always there to support me and my children when I was not there. When I was busy with MEK, Rangasthalam, he played the role of both mother and father to my kids. Now, I already started working for Syera and I am more occupied in professional front.”
