Kakinada: After the Centre denied special status to Andhra Pradesh by convening a late night press conference, now the focus has been shifted to Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan, who will hold a public meeting in Kakinada on Friday.
At a time when the whole State is saddened after the BJP government dashed off their hopes, there is severe suspense as to what call will Jana Sena leader would take. Will he compromise on special package announced by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley? Or, will he step up the ante against the Centre?
On Thursday, Arun Jaitley announced a special development package of Rs 1,50,000 crore by ruling out any chance of granting special status. However, Jaitley still lacks clarity on headquartering the railway zone to Andhra Pradesh among several other issues.
The JNTU grounds in the city has been finilaised and permission has also been granted to Pawan Kalyan to hold the meeting. There is speculation doing rounds that though the meeting is being held on special status issue majority of the crowd expected is from Kapu community. It may be recalled that there was large scale violence erupted when Kapu patriarch Mudragada Padmanabam held a meeting at Tuni on January 30 earlier this year. Now there are fears among the public who would be held responsible if such violence takes place once again similar to that of Tuni.
