Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday termed the Andhra Pradesh government’s ‘Swiss Challenge’ model as real estate business. After hearing the arguments made by the AP Advocate General, the High Court termed it as business and adjourned the case till Tuesday.
It may be recalled that the High Court stayed the tender process initiated by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to select master developer for the startup area in the capital city Amaravati.
Though the final verdict is awaited, there were several questions being raised over the method of selecting the contractor and how far is it viable to follow further.
The Swiss Challenge method which is being presently used in Indian in various States of Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat and Bihar for roads and housing projects. The Telangana government is also learnt to have been mulling over the idea of following the same method in constructing irrigation projects.
