Two big films are coming up from Telugu tinsel town to take on the whole nation in the coming weeks. One happens to be Prabhas’ Saaho which is releasing on August 30th and another one is Megastar Chiru’s Sye Raa that releases on October 2nd. Teams of these films have started promoting the film big time in Bollywood at the moment.
Both Saaho and Sye Raa will be an acid test for Tollywood, to check out if they could produce best films without the support of ace director SS Rajamouli. Because Baahubali 1 and Baahubali 2 credits have fallen in the lap of Rajamouli, proving that he’s the filmmaker who could understand the universal emotion in a better way. In the footsteps laid by Baahubali series, the likes of KGF have succeeded and now its the turn of Saaho and Sye Raa.
Bollywood has seen both Saaho like content and Sye Raa like stories in the recent past. Race franchise, Dhoom franchise and Ek Tha Tiger series fall under this category Saaho, and they worked only if story clicked, but not for visual effects and grandeur. Then we have films like Manikarnika and Thugs Of Hindostan that resemble Sye Raa like a story, and only the ones with better narrative clicked.
The responsibility actually lies on directors Sujith and Surender Reddy to narrate a compelling story in order to make Saaho and Sye Raa sweep the Bollywood box office. And if they continue the Baahubali hawa, the respect for Telugu industry and the craving for big budgeted VFX bonanzas just grow.
