YSR Congress felt that reference to the name of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for 22 times in the ACB charge-sheet is enough ground to include his name as the prime accused in the cash-for-vote scam.
Andhra Pradesh Congress also expressed similar sentiments.
YSR Congress has said the TDP President had visited Delhi only to seek intervention of central leaders to ensure that his name did figure in the charge sheet and not for mounting pressure on Centre to grant special status to AP as is being made out to be.
‘The charge sheet has mentioned Chandrababu Naidu’s name 22 times and there is no reason as to why he should not be included as A-1 in the case. His forth coming Delhi trip also is not to extract special status or other state related issues but only to save his skin from the cash for vote scam,’ Party leader Botsa Satyanarayana alleged today.
His sudden tour to Delhi is only to cover up his role in the conspiracy, Botsa said alleging that
Naidu had been mortgaging the State interests for his personal and political gains. “This is the reason why he is not able to mount pressure on Centre on Special status,” he said.
“We welcome the special package but we definitely need special status as the benefits are far reaching than the special package, for which there is no concrete announcement. The Centre had announced a whopping Rs 1.65 lakh crore package to Bihar and Chief Minister TDP MPs and ministers are silent which shows that they are on a compromise formula vis-à-vis cash for vote scam,’ he accused.
He urged people to make the August 29 bandh being organized by the party a success.
The district committees of the Party have met to chalk out the programme to make the dharna a success, he said and appealed to all sections of people to participate in the bandh in a big way.
Meanwhile, APCC president N Raghuvira Reddy said reference to CM Chandrababu Naidu’s name for 22 times in the ACB charges was a serious matter.
He said he had no confidence on the chief ministers of Telugu states that they would act with sincerity.
“The only option left for Naidu is to voluntarily refer the cash-for-vote scam to the CBI and get himself cleared off the serious charge made by none other than his counter part in Telangana KCR that Naidu was the Kingpin in the whole sordid affair to buy the vote of a nominated MLA,” Raghuvira said.
