The Telangana Congress today demanded a CBCID probe into the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) job-recruitment ‘irregularities’. Party official spokesperson Mr. Konagala Mahesh presented a memorandum to the Power Minister Mr. Jagadeeswa Reddy with the documentary evidence. Mahesh met the Minister at the Secretariat along with dozens of victims of the alleged irregularities and scores of unemployed youth.
Later, addressing the media, Mahesh expressed dissatisfaction very first job recruitment activity initiated in the separate Telangana State. “The Public Sector Company issued notification to fill about 471 Assistant Grade posts. About 70,000 unemployed youth applied for the jobs. But only few families cornered the jobs. Some families got not only the first rank but also jobs to all those applied from it. About 70 jobs have been shared by a few families from Mancherial at the rate of two per family. Members from 54 families secured ranks below 250 and bagged 156 jobs. The family of the
official who committed the fraud has four of its members selected for the jobs. All these facts have come to fore because of the agitation by the youth who were denied jobs despite having been qualified and their parents,” he said.
Mahesh said there had been no action from the company’s vigilance wing even though the youth lodged a complaint with it. Responding to the complaint, Minister Jagadeeswar Reddy assured that he would personally look into the matter. According to Mahesh, the Minister also assured that he would blacklist JNTU which conducted the examinations in the event these irregularities proved are true and the Government would conduct the exam afresh in the interest of the unemployed.
