Telangana Congress is unlikely to get an opportunity for a power-point presentation in Assembly to counter chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao presentation and to highlight the impracticable aspects of redesigned projects.
Telangana government sources said this was not acceptable to the chief minister. The Congress leaders had skipped the house on the day when CM was giving the detailed presentation for about three hours. ” Had they been present in the House and raised doubts over the CM’s presentation, their request would have been fair. They skipped the House and now want the opportunity to give a presentation in Assembly. It is gross insincerity,” the sources said. The chief minister, who created a history of sorts by resorting to power point presentation to explain away the rationale behind the redesigning the projects planned by the previous government, is not ready to accede to the demand of T-Congress. The CM was furious that Congress members skipped the meeting and at any cost would not agree for their PPP on the floor of the House at any cost, the sources said. Speaker officer is expected to intimate its inability to organize a PPP for Congress soon.
The Telangana Congress party had written a letter to Assembly speaker Madhusudanachary, requesting permission for a power-point presentation on ‘faulty re-designing’ of irrigation projects which TRS government is planning to take up in the state.
Congress sources, however, said there had been no response yet from the speaker.
The argument of the Congress is that when ruling party gave a presentation on the floor of the House, there was no point in denying the same to the opposition party. According to PCC president N Uttamkumar Reddy many of the projects CM redesigned were unrealistic. ” They are technically not viable. More important point is that the presentation was given after allocations were made for the project,” he said.
Talking to telugu360.com PCC working president Mallu Bhattivikramarkha said the congress wants to highlight the strong aspects of the projects taken up by previous Congress government. “We also want to highlight how the redesigning would impose more burden rather than yielding results,” he said. They both smelt some scam in the wholesale redesigning of the projects by the TRS government.
In the meantime, Kavita, Nizambad MP and daughter of chief minister KCR, said TRS was ready to attend the power point presentation of Congress if they were sincerely wanting to make suggestions to what the CM told already. ” If the Congress invites us to their presentation, we would attend along with experts . And if they had any suggestion to make, we would certainly convey them to the chief minister, ” she said. She was critical of Congress attitude towards CM’ presentation. ” If they were sincere they would have raised their doubts in Assembly itself and got them clarified by the CM. What would a party which ran away from the House unable to face the CM, offer more in the form of suggestions,” she asked.
