Critically acclaimed Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has been roped in to play the lead antagonist in Sai Dharam Tej’s brother Vaisshnav Tej’s debut film Uppena. If the latest speculation is to be believed, Vijay Sethupathi walked out of the project and the real reasons haven’t been disclosed. This is sure a huge jolt for the team of Uppena.

Uppena is said to be a rustic love story set in the backdrop of Godavari. Buchi Babu, a protege of Sukumar is making his directorial debut and Mythri Movie Makers are on board as the producers. Uppena started rolling recently and will release during the end of this year.

Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha are teaming up for a romantic entertainer titled 96. The theatrical trailer of the film impressed the audience big time and kept the expectations on the film high. C Prem Kumar is the director of the film and Madras Enterprises bankrolled the film. Top producer Dil Raju has been impressed with the content of 96 and he acquired the dubbing and remake rights of the film.

96 is gearing up for a wide release on September 13th all over during Vinayaka Chavithi in Tamil. It is still unclear if the film will be remade in Telugu or if Dil Raju will release the dubbed version across the Telugu states.

Mani Ratnam’s next to roll from February

Mani Ratnam’s next launch in January

After Mani Ratnam’s last film Cheliya sank without any trace, the veteran director has been working on an action thriller from the past few months. Though the film has been planned to be launched in December, it has been pushed further now. Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Fahadh Faasil, Jyothika and Aishwarya Rajesh are the lead actors in this untitled film which will be launched officially in January 2018. The regular shoot of the film will start from February next year.

The first schedule of the film will start in Chennai and the supporting cast, crew are being finalized currently. AR Rahman will compose the tunes and Santosh Sivan is the cinematographer. The film will be high on screenplay and will have parallel stories linked with each other. Prakash Raj and Jayasudha will be seen essaying other crucial roles in this untitled film which will bee bankrolled by Madras Talkies banner. The film will be shot in Telugu, Tamil and will hit the screens during Diwali 2018.
