Centre gave funds for Jagananna colonies, says Minister

0

AP Minister for Housing Kolusu Pardhasaradhi on Wednesday said that the funds for the Jagananna colonies were given by the Central government. He said that the Central government had given 26 lakh houses for the state between 2019 and 2024. However, the Andhra Pradesh government completed only 6 lakh houses, the minister said.

Speaking to the media in Amaravati, the Minister said that the YSR Congress government had reduced the unit cost of every house built for the poor. In addition, the government avoided Rs 945 crore to the beneficiaries in five years. The previous government had also diverted Rs 3060 crore to be given to the housing department, the minister said.

He said he held a review meeting with the officials of the department and found that the tall claims of the previous YSR Congress government were all false. The present government had to work hard to complete the target, he said.

The Jagananna colonies lands were acquired without considering whether they would be fit for construction or not. There was no scientific study done on the land acquisition, the minister said and regretted that every district had acquired lands according to their convenience and not according to the fitness of the lands. In some places, the lands were acquired 10 to 15 kilometers away from the present habitation of the beneficiaries.

The colonies have no infrastructure like roads, drains, the Minister said. However, he said that the previous government had provided electricity supply to these colonies. Other than electricity, no other facility was provided in the colonies, the Minister said. He added that the present government has to take up the provision of infrastructure in these colonies.

The Minister said that he would work in coordination with the department officials and ensure that these houses are completed at the earliest. He also said that those houses constructed already are to be given to the beneficiaries.

The Minister said that this government would order an inquiry into the diversion of funds from the department. He also said that the enquiry would be conducted on the funds released by the Central government for housing programme.

Saradhi joins TDP, Vasantha to join later

YSR Congress MLA from Penamaluru Kolusu Pardha Saradhi joined the TDP on Monday. He joined the party in the presence of party general secretary Nara Lokesh at the party office. Party senior leaders Konakalla Narayana Rao, Gadde Ramamohan Rao, Kollu Ravindra, Kesinseni Sivanath, Bode Prasad and others were present when Saradhi joined the party.

Speaking on the occasion, Saradhi said that there was no place for the SCs, STs and BCs in the ruling YSR Congress. He said that the leaders of these sections were made slaves and have to accept whatever the party leadership tells them. They have to surrender to the leaders from the upper class, he said. They are at the mercy of the leaders from the upper castes, the MLA said.

He said he could not sacrifice his self-respect and had to quit the party. He also said that the party did not recognise his services in the last ten years. He thanked the TDP for recognising him and accepting him to join the party.

The TDP had declared his name as the candidate for the Nuzvid Assembly constituency in Eluru district even before he joined the party. Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu announced Saradhi’s name for Nuzvid, keeping senior leader Mudraboyina Venkateswara Rao aside.

Meanwhile, Mylavaram YSRCP MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad said that he would join the TDP in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu. He said he would take the party cadre with him to the TDP chief and join the party.

He said he had no personal differences with former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao. He said he would hold talks with Devineni and settle any differences if they have.

He said that chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had told them to abuse Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh at the press conferences. He said that those who abuse the opposition would get recognition in the YSR Congress.

The party leadership insists upon the leaders to hurl abuses and even make personal criticism of the opposition party leaders. The party leadership would send the communication to every leader in the party. Those who follow it would get the cabinet berths, Krishna Prasad said.

Another senior leader from the YSR Congress, Boppana Bhava Kumar is also likely to join the TDP in a day or two. Bhava Kumar was the party Vijayawada urban unit president and was the candidate for the 2019 general election from Vijayawada East constituency.

Saradhi, Vishnu to leave YSR Congress soon?

0

Senior MLAs in the ruling YSR Congress, Kolusu Pardha Saradhi and Malladi Vishnu from Krishna and NTR districts are likely to leave the party in a week or so. They are upset with the party leadership which had decided not to field the two MLAs in the coming elections.

Chief Minister and YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had taken a call not to field the two MLAs in the coming elections. The chief minister had appointed former minister and Vijayawada West MLA Velampalli Srinivas as incharge of Vijayawada Central Assembly constituency which is now represented by Malladi Vishnu.

The chief minister had also decided to drop Saradhi at Penamaluru Assembly constituency. Saradhi, who joined the party before the 2014 Assembly elections, had expected that the chief minister would take him into the cabinet. However, he missed it in 2019 and expected that he would be in the cabinet at the expansion. Second time too, he missed the bus as the chief minister did not consider his candidature for the cabinet post.

Saradhi had been unhappy with the leadership for some time. He expressed his anguish at the recent public meeting held in Penamaluru as part of the Sadhikara Bus Yatra. The former minister said that despite Jagan Mohan Reddy not recognizing him, the people of Penamaluru have been with him. He made this statement in the presence of the party’s senior leaders and the full public view.

There is talk in the party circles that Saradhi would leave the party soon. There is a speculation that Saradhi had already met TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu a couple of days ago. They talked about the elections and Chandrababu Naidu had promised to accommodate him in the elections from Penamaluru or some constituency. Naidu had also promised a cabinet berth for Saradhi, if he switched over loyalties.

Meanwhile, Pamarru MLA Kaile Anil Kumar held talks with Saradhi and took him to the chief minister on Monday. Party regional coordinator Marri Rajasekhar, Anil Kumar and Saradhi met the chief minister in the evening. Later, Saradhi had discussions with the chief minister for 20 minutes and is said to have not been satisfied and came out of the chief minister’s office with a sad face.

Sources say that Saradhi is likely to take a decision in a week or so and announce it at a public meeting to be held in his constituency. It is to be seen what decision he would take finally!
