AP High Court slams Kuppam cops for preventing TDP election campaign

1

The AP High Court took a serious view of the hyper enthusiasm of the police in Kuppam. It slammed the Kuppam police for trying to obstruct the TDP leaders from conducting their election campaign. It strongly reprimanded Palamner DSP for his actions, which the court said were uncalled for.

Palamaner DSP has asked the TDP candidates contesting the elections to the Kuppam Municipal Council to obtain permission before conducting an election campaign. The DSP even served a notice on the TDP leaders. The TDP approached the High Court seeking action against the DSP. The court, which examined the complaint, severely criticised the police for putting spokes in the election campaign of a candidate contesting elections.

The police action has come in for all round condemnation. Many analysts slammed for police for preventing the TDP from campaigning. Campaigning during election is a matter of right and the police have no right to stop the campaigning. Political analysts say that the police were being ‘more loyal than the king. They slammed the police over-action.

Curiously, no such rules seem to apply for the ruling YSRCP. The very same police have neither served a notice on the YSRCP nor asked it to obtain permission to hold an election campaign. The rules seem to apply only to the TDP. Now the situation is likely to change after the High Court’s censure.

Chandrababu’s Kuppam tour: Better late than never!!

0

The first impression of Chandrababu Naidu’s three-day tour of Kuppam is that it is too late and too little. Lot of lost ground and missed opportunities greeted Chandrababu Naidu as he toured his home turf of Kuppam. The tour that should have been taken soon after the 2019 assembly elections is happening a tad too late and this has given an opportunity to YSRCP strongman Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy to wean away several key workers of the TDP.

Covid restrictions did prevent him from undertaking an extensive tour of Kuppam, but he lost two years as a result. No major programmes were organised in Kuppam. Meanwhile, consecutive adverse election results have hit the morale of the party workers hard. Using this, the YSRCP has poached several important workers in the constituency.

Insiders say that due to Chandrababu’s continued absence from Kuppam, some PAs and some local leaders became all powerful and they dominated the diehard cadres of the party. There are allegations that even Lokesh did not give any importance to the loyal cadres. With Jagan and Peddireddy focusing on Kuppam, several works were launched and the people slowly turned towards the YSRCP. They lured the party workers at the booth level. This has now turned out to be a major headache for Chandrababu.

Another major source of trouble is the growing popularity of Junior NTR in Kuppam. Slogans such as NTR Zindabad are greeting Chandrababu. The local cadre are yearning for an active role to NTR in the party. This is being seen as an open challenge to Lokesh Babu’s leadership. The three-day tour is likely to retrieve some lost ground. But, it is quite late. But, as they say, better late than never.

Jagan puts an end to 4-decade old RESCO in Kuppam!

0

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh headed by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has engaged in ‘vengeful politics’ against TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu right from Day-1 of assuming office.

It scrapped several schemes and projects of Naidu and reversed several decision of Naidu in these two years.

Latest, the YSRCP government has allowed APSPDCL to takeover Kuppam Rural Electric Cooperative Society Ltd (Kuppam RESCO) in Kuppam constituency represented by Naidu.

The state government did this citing APERC orders but everyone knows who appoints and controls APERC chairman and members.

APERC ordered cancellation of sale, distribution and retail licence of RESCO, which was set up in 1981 in Kuppam, with an aim to achieve 100% rural electrification in the backward and remote areas of Kuppam constituency.

There are 1.22 lakh shareholders in RESCO and 1.24 lakh electricity connections.

Naidu strongly objected to the takeover of RESCO by APSPDCL without any valid reasons.

In Kuppam, democracy is defeated, says Naidu

2

The YCP has claimed to have shaken the foundation of Chandrababu Naidu’s support base in his own Kuppam assembly segment. Now, Mr. Naidu asserted that in this lawless election, it was democracy that was being defeated in Kuppam but not the Telugu Desam Party.

He slammed the ruling party for using huge ‘corruption money’ amassed from the sand and liquor mafia to buy votes at Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000 per head. Crores of rupees were dumped in the Kuppam segment to get immoral victories there. The ruling party maniacs brought outsiders to defeat democracy. Kuppam was known for its credibility, peace-loving people and ethical values but now the YCP goondas have polluted the atmosphere.

Mr. Naidu asked why he should resign when the YCP leaders misused the police and threatened the candidates besides committing many violations to snatch unethical victories. The people have already started revolting against the implementation of the oppressive, faction-ridden Raja Reddy Constitution by Jagan Reddy. The TDP cadres would rally together to protect the benevolent, people-friendly Ambedkar Constitution in Andhra Pradesh.

He said that despite the YCP threats, the TDP and its allies have posted good results and got 41.41 percent seats in the 3rd phase panchayat polls. They have won over 1,093 panchayats as the final results poured in. The TDP has already won 38.74 percent seats in first phase and 39.52 percent seats in second phase.

Mr. Naidu ridiculed the Chief Minister’s comment on sale of 7,000 acres of the Visakha Steel Plant. He asked whether sale of the public property would be the solution for each and every problem. In that case, this CM would put up the entire Vizag City and the whole Andhra up for sale. If Jagan Reddy was really interested, he might as well take this Posco steel plant to his Idupulapaya area where he already had a cement factory. Ultimately, only this CM’s family should possess all the industries and the factories in the State and nobody else. Jagan Reddy was aiming at becoming the richest man in the country as a whole.

TDP MP revolts against Chandrababu Naidu

TDP MP from Chittoor, N. Shivaprasad, has raised the banner of revolt against the party leadership and said he could contest as the candidate of many other parties in the next elections.

Considered close to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Shivaprasad targeted him for ignoring the interests of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

A day after the Member of Parliament’s outburst, Naidu reacted sharply. The TDP chief held a teleconference with the ministers and party leaders.

According to TDP sources, Naidu said the MP was interested in a piece of land and when the same was not given to him, he started making baseless allegations.

Naidu made it clear that he will not tolerate anybody pursuing a personal agenda.

Shivaprasad denied the allegations levelled against him. The Lok Sabha member said personal allegations were being made against him, instead of doing justice to SCs and STs.

He expressed displeasure over the attitude of Naidu towards him and said the TDP chief was not even giving him an appointment.

Shivaprasad, who also acted in a few Telugu films and is known for his antics to highlight various issues, hails from Naidu’s native district Chittoor. Kuppam, the assembly constituency represented by Naidu, is also part of Chittoor Lok Sabha constituency.

The MP had said on Friday that Naidu has not accommodated SCs in his cabinet as per the population ratio.

He pointed out that the SC and ST population in Andhra Pradesh is around 25 per cent, and they should get five berths in the cabinet but they were given only two berths.

“Perhaps the CM does not want the SCs to occupy esteemed positions,” he remarked.

Raghuveera faced TDP’s ire in Kuppam

0

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Raghuveera Reddy is working hard to extricate the lost glory of the grand-old-party in the state. In recent past, he has been organizing many protests and public meetings exposing the government’s omissions and commission. However, on Monday he faced the wrath of TDP supporters in Kuppam, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s home constituency, in Chittoor district.

TDP workers raised slogans against the Congress, ” The Congress, which did nothing to Kuppam in their 10-year rule is now stalling the development process initiated by TDP government,” they said demanding the delegation to go back.

Raghuveera went to Kuppam to meet the rebellious farmers who are reluctant to give up their lands to the proposed cargo airport in the area. Raghuvira with a team of Congress leaders arrived in Kuppam town and set off to villages where the government started survey of the lands for proposed to acquire for the airport. En route, the Congress leaders were way laid by the local TDP leaders, who sat on the road blocking the way. A war of words ensued and followed by pushing and shoving by TDP workers and follower of Dr Suresh, a local Congress leader, according to Goutham Jagan, APCC spokesperson. AT the spot, Laxmipuram village, in Kuppam, TDP workers hurled eggs, stones and chappals on Raghuveera’s convoy. Local DSP intervened and escorted the Congress team out to Kadiriobanapalli village, the venue of a public meeting. At Obanapalli, Raghuvira interacted with the farmers who said that government was planning to take away their land against their will.

“We were given these barren lands thirty years back. We struggled a lot to make them arable. Now these lands have become our livelihood. Suddenly, the government wants to take back these lands. Can any compensation make up for the sweat and blood we put into these lands? We don’t want to leave these lands,’ the farmers told the Congress delegation. Raghivira addressed a public meeting in which about 1500 people from 20 nearby villages gathered.

Assuring them full solidarity, the APCC president told them that the Congress party would stand by them. ” As per the existing land acquisition Act, acquiring the land without farmers’ consent is illegal. First the government has to conduct a social impact survey and asses the damage the project may cause to the livelihoods. Without doing it, the government started survey of lands. We oppose this,” Reddy told the farmers.

Kuppam to quench the thirst of AP villages

0

Chief minister Chadrababu Naidu is for replicating the Kuppam drinking water model across the State and involve corporate and industrialists under the CSR initiatives in the projects meant for drinking water. He prescribes Kuppam model as the real solution to the chronic drinking water problem the districts of Chittoor and Anantapur are facing. But, under Kuppam model the water doesn’t flow free of cost. Chief minister asked the officials to supply water but fix the meters and collect the charges in the name of maintenance.

Expressing concern over the water scarcity compounded by the fluoride problem, he asked officials to work on an action plan to provide mineral water to isolated pockets in these two districts, immediately. “Work out a plan to meet drinking water needs of fluorosis-hit villages. This should include immediate plan, intermediate plan and a long-term plan,” he instructed officials.

He asked the officials not to compromise on the making potable water to the households in rural areas especially, Chittoor and Anantapuram districts.Kuppam, his home constituency, has overcome the acute drinking water problem by adopting rainwater harvesting and setting up recharging structures. The CM said Panchayat Raj officials that the department should be in a position to supply at leader 30 TMC of water for drinking purpose. Chief Minister asked officials to make all the services online for 12, 918 through Panchayat Raj Institution & Management System (PRIM).

It’s raining money in Kuppam!

0

On one side, government is looking towards Delhi for special financial package stating that state is deprived of revenues after the division. But, it’s almost raining money in crores in Kuppam constituency, one of India’s most pampered constituencies. The constituency is represented by none other than chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. Though the constituency has joined select club of VIP constituencies long back, it suffered neglect between 2004-2010 during the Congress regimes. Now, after the return to power, Naidu is working hard to make Kuppam, probably India’s number 1 VVIP constituency.

On Thursday, chief minister Naidu launched developmental works of worth Rs 1000 crore in the constituency on a single day.

The CM laid foundation for laying of 325 KM long cement and black topped roads in the constituency at a cost of Rs 285.55 crore. He laid another foundation for construction of NAAC building at costing Rs 17.61 crore. He started the works of widening of National High from Plamaneru, Krishnagiri to Tamilnadu border. This project costs Rs 271.45 crore. Naidu also laid foundation for the construction of Kuppam branch canal of Handri-Neeva at cost of Rs 468.53 crore. Naidu also launched the works of laying link Road between Krishnagiri and Dravida Viswavidyalayam at an estimated cost of Rs 8.40 crore. He launched the ambulance service with vehicle bought from the MPLADS of Chittoor MP.
