Srinivasulu Reddy turns approver in Delhi liquor scam

1

Ongole MP from the YSR Congress, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy turned approver in the sensational Delhi liquor scam. He would be the third accused to become the approver in the case.

Saratchandra Reddy and Magunata Raghava Reddy have already become the approvers and are on bail. They were arrested earlier this year in the liquor case and are on bail now.

The Enforcement Directorate which is probing into the case had laid its hands on Srinivasulu Reddy after they arrested his son Raghava Reddy. As Raghava Reddy had reportedly confessed some information, the ED had laid its hands on Srinivasulu Reddy.

Srinivasulu Reddy had denied his role and that of his son for several months. However, when the ED arrested his son, Srinivasulu Reddy changed his stand on the issue. He is now being questioned by the ED officials in the scam, particularly the way through which the money was transferred to Delhi from Hyderabad.

The ED had already arrested a couple of ministers from the Delhi state government in the case. It is now working on the financial transactions that took place in the deal.

The ED had also arrested the auditor of BRS MLC and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha in the case. It is likely that the ED would lay its hands on Kavitha in the days to come.

It is to be seen how Kavitha would escape from being arrested or her father Chandrasekhar Rao to save his daughter.

The ED has claimed in the supplementary charge sheet that Vijay Nair, on behalf of leaders of AAP received kickbacks to the tune of Rs 100 crore from South Group, whose prominent persons are Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Raghav Magunta, Sarath Reddy and K Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Magunta Raghava Reddy’s custody extended

0

Ruling YSR Congress MP from Ongole, Magunta Srinivasula Reddy’s son Magunta Raghava Reddy custody was extended by another 14 days. Raghava Reddy was arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor scam.

Raghava Reddy is currently in the Tihar jail serving the judicial custody. He was arrested on February 10 by the Enforcement Directorate after a brief questioning. Raghava Reddy’s father Srinivasula Reddy had denied the role of his son in the Delhi liquor scam. However, the ED had picked him up in Delhi and sent to jail.

The arrest came as a rude shock for the Magunta family as Srinivasula Reddy is planning to launch his son into politics in the 2024 general election. He had announced that his son would succeed him in politics in the next round of elections.

Sources say that Srinivasula Reddy had planned to launch his son from TDP this time. Srinivasula Reddy was the TDP MP between 2014 and 2019. Though he had joined the YSR Congress and won the 2019 elections, his soul is with the TDP and had already made up his mind to launch his son from the TDP.

With the arrest of the young Reddy, the family is in big trouble. Srinivasula Reddy had placed several pieces of evidence before the media to deny any link to the scam to his family members, particularly his son. However, the ED had arrested Raghava Reddy.

The family had been into the liquor business for over four decades and is spread over seven states in the country. His elder brother, late Magunta Subbarami Reddy, had started the business, which is now continued by Srinivasula Reddy and his son.

It is now to be seen what the family would do to save the young member, who has political aspirations.

Magunta denies role in Delhi liquor scam

0

YSR Congress MP from Ongole, Magunta Srinivasula Reddy, on Monday denied media reports on his family’s links with the Delhi liquor scam. He said his family had been in the liquor business for decades and had never indulged in any irregularities.

The MP said that the family had started the liquor business with his father Raghava Reddy entering into it a few decades ago. The business was continued by his brother Magunta Subbarami Reddy, he said.

The MP added that they are known for legal business in liquor and they were present in nearly seven states in the country. Besides being the distributors and manufacturers, they also have retail outlets in some places, the MP said.

He also said that his son Raghava Reddy too had no role in the Delhi liquor scam. However, the Enforcement Directorate officials have inspected his offices and houses last week. They did not find anything and have given them clean chit, he said.

Srinivasula Reddy, a two-time MP, had entered politics through Congress. He switched over to the TDP before the 2014 elections and won Lok Sabha elections. Again he moved to the YSR Congress before the 2019 elections and won again.

The MP said that he would be quitting active politics soon and would not contest the 2024 general elections. He said his son Raghava Reddy would contest the next election.

However, he did not reveal from which party his son would contest!

Delhi excise policy scam case: ED searches premises of YSRCP Lok Sabha MP

0

In a latest development in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team on Friday reached the premises of YSRCP Lok Sabha MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy.

Reddy, the MP from Andhra Pradesh’s Ongole Lok Sabha constituency, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts by IANS.

The ED was conducting raids at more than 40 places across India since Friday morning.

An ED team was also at the Tihar Jail to interrogate Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

According to sources, the ED was conducting raids in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi-NCR and in Tamil Nadu’s Nellore.

The ED action is on the basis of an FIR of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the excide policy scam case.

The CBI has made Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as the accused number one in its FIR.

The CBI’s FIR was lodged under sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) and 477-A (Falsification of accounts) of the IPC. The allegations against Sisodia is that liquor businessmen were allegedly given exemption of Rs 30 crore. The licence holders were allegedly given extension according to their own will and the policy rules were made by violating excise rules.

It also said that Sisodia and a few liquor barons were actively involved in managing and diverting the undue pecuniary advantage collected from liquor licensees to public servants, who have been made accused in the case.

“Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Arva Gopi Krishna, the then Commissioner (Excise), Anand Tiwari, the then Deputy Commissioner (Excise), and Pankaj Bhatnagar, Assistant Commissioner (Excise) were instrumental in recommending and taking decisions pertaining to the excise policy for the year 2021-22 without approval of the competent authority with an intention to extend undue favours to the licensees post tender,” read the FIR, which has been accessed by IANS.

Magunta’s Delhi party throws YSRCP out of gear

1

A dinner party has many meanings and many more interpretations in politics. The reason, the place and the guest-list will have a lot to say about the politics behind the party. So, when Ongole MP and YSRCP leader Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy threw a party in New Delhi, everyone looked at the guest list.

Surprise of surprises… All the three TDP MPs were invited to the dinner. This has raised quite a few eyebrows as the TDP MPs and the YSRCP MPs are not even on talking terms. Even in the parliament hall, they are not greeting each other. That being the case, why did Magunta invite the TDP MPs to his dinner party? Not just that. All the three TDP MPs turned up for the dinner and posed for photos happily with Magunta.

There was another reason for this debate. As of now, Magunta is unhappy in the YSRCP. He had deep differences with YV Subba Reddy and Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh. He also keeping a distance from the YSRCP Ongole unit due to the rampant groupism in the party. In fact, he wanted to promote his son as his political heir. But, he is being resolutely opposed by YV Subba Reddy, who wants to promote his son.

More interestingly, Maganta was in the TDP before he joined the YSRCP in 2019. In 2014, he lost to YV Subba Reddy in the MP election. By 2019, he joined the YSRCP and got the MP ticket. Sitting MP YV Subba Reddy was asked to stand aside for Magunta. But, it appears that he has still been maintaining his contacts in the TDP The YSRCP MPs and the party leaders are working overtime to understand the real hidden message in organising this party.

This MP too is unhappy in YSRCP

1

One more MP in YSRCP is said to be fretting and fuming. He is deeply unhappy with the way the party leadership is putting spokes in his businesses. He is sulking because he has no problems in his business elsewhere, but in AP, which is his own state, there are problems and problems.

Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy is said to be very upset these days. This liquor baron has businesses spread all over south India. While there is no problem for him in other South Indian states, he is finding the going very tough in AP. Not just that! His own party members are trying to create hurdles and hit his businesses. He tried to take the issue to the notice of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, but to no avail.

Magunta has another problem these days. He wants to promote his son Raghava Reddy. Raghava has already set up an NGO and is doing some social service. Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy wants Raghava to be the party candidate for the next election from Giddalur assembly constituency. However, district minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy too has plans for Giddalur. He wants to make his son Praneeth Reddy as the YSRCP candidate from Giddaluru.

Now, Balineni is a close relative of YS Jagan and has Jagan’s ears. His being in the cabinet is an additional advantage for him. So, he is able to push the case of his son unlike Magunta, who is unable to meet YS Jagan as often as Balineni does.

The differences between the two leaders came to the fore recently when a Covid centre was inaugurated. Magunta is said to have expressed his anger over the way he was being slighted in the party. The ball is now in YS Jagan’s court and one has to wait and see how Jagan handles these two titans and irons out their differences.

Magunta meets Pawan, what’s up?

0

TDP leader and MLC Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy met Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan today at Ongole. This has raised many eyebrows. With this, rumours started about Magunta joining Janasena party.

Magunta contested as MP from Ongole on TDP ticket but lost by a small margin of votes against YV Subba Reddy of YSRCP. Later he was given MLC from TDP. Recently there was news about him joining YSRCP but YV Subba Reddy seems to be opposing his entry into the party. So, now Magunta meeting Pawan is raising curiosity among people.

However, some others are saying that Magunta family is very close to Chiranjeevi’s family and his meeting with Pawan doesn’t have any political significance. But this logic doesn’t hold much water, as Pawan Kalyan is completely focussing on politics and he might have not given his time at this crucial juncture if it is not related to politics.
