Tollywood 2024 First Quarter Report

Tollywood had a decent first quarter for 2024. Sankranthi witnessed a tough fight and Hanuman was the surprise. The film emerged as a massive hit despite releases like Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav and Naa Saami Ranga. Prasanth Varma and Teja Sajja gained star status with the film’s success. Mahesh Babu managed to pull the crowds with Guntur Kaaram and Trivikram’s work was badly criticized. Considering the financials involved, the film cannot be called a hit. Venkatesh took action mode and his film Saindhav ended up as a massive debacle. Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga managed to bring audience to the theatres during the Sankranthi season.

Post Sankranthi, a bunch of small budget films released and none of them impressed the audience. Yatra 2 failed to get minimum footfalls. Ravi Teja delivered one more disaster through Eagle. Sundeep Kishan delivered a decent hit with Ooru Peru Bhairavakona. Ravi Teja’s production Sundaram Master featuring Viva Harsha also failed to impress the audience. Vennela Kishore’s interesting attempt Chari 111 ended up as a massive disaster. Varun Tej delivered one more disaster with Operation Valentine. The film was badly rejected by the audience.

Gopichand’s mass film Bhimaa got decent openings but the poor word of mouth killed the film completely. Vishwak Sen’s Gaami received appreciations and the film did decent at the box-office. Razakar received good appreciation but the audience showed no interest in the film. Sree Vishnu’s Om Bheem Bush ended up as a below average flick. Siddhu Jonnalagadda scored a super hit with Tillu Square and the film is going strong. March ended up on a great note with Tillu Square.

Among the dubbed films, Premalu impressed youth and made good revenues in urban regions. Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya released the Malayalam film in Telugu.

Naa Saami Ranga 4 days Worldwide Collections – Good in AP

Naa Saami Ranga by the end of its 4th day has collected 10.5 cr share worldwide. The film is doing decent to good business in AP & its poor elsewhere especially in Nizam. ROI & Overseas markets are very poor and thats expected for the film. The film has utilised the Sankranti holidays well in AP though it still had room left to fill the capacities. The film will come down today and it needs to be seen how much the fall will be though it still can be benefitted from the leftovers.

Naa Saami Ranga 2 days Worldwide Collections – Good

Naa Saami Ranga has done Good Business so far with a worldwide distributor share of 6 Cr. The numbers look very low for the film because of the release in less number of theatres. Still, it has capacities to hit which it should do in Andhra today at least. The film is made for the Sankranti holiday and it’s likely to continue this revenue till the end of the coming weekend.

Naa Saami Ranga: Nag’s strategy Works

0

King Nagarjuna decided to remake a Malayalam film and he made sure that the film titled Naa Saami Ranga will hit the screens for Sankranthi. Though the producer opposed the decision considering the number of releases, Nag decided to take the risk. He bought the Telugu theatrical rights after watching the final copy. Naa Saami Ranga is a thorough entertainer and releasing the film during the Sankranthi season is an asset for the film. The film received decent response and the numbers grew by the evening shows in Telugu states.

Considering the theatrical risk involved, Nag will be safe and he would make some handsome profits for sure. Vijay Binni, a debutant handled the film well and delivered a decent product. He even wrapped up the shoot in the given time and allocated budget. Aashika Ranganath’s performance too is well appreciated by the audience. Srinivasaa Chitturi is the producer of Naa Saami Ranga.

Naa Saami Ranga movie review

Naa Saami Ranga movie review

Telugu360 Rating : 2.75/5

King Nagarjuna picked up the remake of a Malayalam film and completed the shoot in a record time of less than three months. The film directed by Vijay Binni is an entertainer and it also has Allari Naresh, Raj Tharun, Aashika Ranganath, Mirnaa and Rukshar Dhillon playing other important roles. MM Keeravani scored the music and background score for Naa Saami Ranga. Srinivasaa Chitturi is the producer. Here is the review of Naa Saami Ranga:

Story:

Kittayya (Nagarjuna) and Anji (Allari Naresh) are best friends from childhood. Kittayya is an orphan while Anji’s mother passes away during his childhood. Both of them have immense respect for the village head (Nassar). Kittayya obeys his orders and never crosses his line. Kittayya loves Varaalu (Aashika Ranganath), the daughter of Varadaraajulu (Rao Ramesh) from his childhood days. When the duo decides to get married, in an expected move, Varadaraajulu passes away and this incident seperates Kittayya and Varaalu. In a sudden move, Dasu, the third son of the village head enters into the village and the rest of the film is about how Kittayya resolves the problems in the village and wins his love. Watch Naa Saami Ranga.

Analysis:

The team of Naa Saami Ranga took the basic plot and made enough changes for the Telugu version to suit the taste of the audience. A touch of Sankranthi festival and the tradition are brought into the film. The film starts with the friendship of Kittayya and Anji. Then the film shifts towards the love story of Kittayya and Varaalu. The love story happens with a vintage look with enough entertainment and romance. The love story is a bit lenghty and the conflict starts after the role of Varadaraajulu enters the scene. The film gets a villain after Dasu enters the story. The first half goes on a decent note without any highs and lows. The interval episode is shot well.

Though the first half has enough flaws, the crisp narration, well shot songs and background score of Keeravani and the interval episode makes the film passable. The second half of Naa Saami Ranga is slow paced and the episode of Anji was shot well. The story gets completed after this episode but it is dragged till the climax. Then comes a twist and the climax is shot well. The nativity and the theme of Naa Saami Ranga are well presented throughout the second half. Sankranthi vibe is an additional advantage for Naa Saami Ranga.

The second half has more songs though they are a part of the story. Kittayya has no past and Kittayya saving Peddayya during his childhood days was never shown on screen. The friendship and bonding between Kittayya and Anji was well showcased. The length of the love story should have been trimmed.

Performances:

Nagarjuna has been presented in a new and colorful look throughout. His costumes are good and he did his role well. The film’s director followed Nag’s body language and handled him well. Allari Naresh and his comic timing is an asset for Naa Saami Ranga. He did well in the emotional episode in the second half. Raj Tharun will not get registered. Aashika Ranganath looked cute and beautiful in her role and she performed well. Nassar gets a powerful and full-length role in Naa Saami Ranga. All the other actors are good in Naa Saami Ranga.

MM Keeravani’s background score is an asset for Naa Saami Ranga. The film has seven songs and most of them are shot well. The film’s director Vijay Binni is a choreographer by profession and he composed the songs well. Vijay Binni also adapted the script well to impress the Telugu audience. Though the film is shot in a short span of three months, Naa Saami Ranga has good quality. The dialogues are decent and some of the episodes will not be accepted by the family crowds.

Naa Saami Ranga is a film that will appeal to the audience during the Sankranthi season and makes a decent one time watch.

Exclusive: Nagarjuna acquires the rights of Naa Saami Ranga

0

King Nagarjuna is quite strict on Naa Saami Ranga having a Sankranthi release. Srinivasaa Chitturi, the film’s producer has been hesitant considering the bunch of releases. Nag managed to sell off the non-theatrical rights and a major portion of the budget has been recovered. Now, Nagarjuna has acquired the entire theatrical rights of Naa Saami Ranga for a price of Rs 15 crores and this would be a non-refundable deal. Nagarjuna is extremely confident on the film and he acquired the entire theatrical rights.

Nag is charging Rs 10 crores remuneration for Naa Saami Ranga and he will be paying the balance amount to the producer before the film’s release. Nag also approached Dil Raju to release the film in Andhra and Telangana region. Naa Saami Ranga will release through the distributors of Dil Raju in the Telugu states. Directed by a debuntant Vijay Binny, Naa Saami Ranga is an entertainer and it has Allari Naresh, Raj Tarun, Ashika Ranganath, Mirna and Ruskhar Dhillon playing other important roles. NSR For Sankranthi, Nag Accomplishes Challenge

0

Even before commencing the shoot, Nagarjuna announced to release his movie Naa Saami Ranga for Sankranthi. Many opined that it is highly impossible to complete production and post-production of a movie in four months, promote it, and release it on the scheduled date.

However, Nagarjuna is going to accomplish the challenge, as the works related to the movie are nearing completion. The shooting part will conclude in 2 to 3 days. The post-production works are also almost completed. Still, the movie is not going back in promoting the movie, although they are very busy with pending work.

The impossible task becomes possible because of Nagarjuna who gave in everything. Though he was hosting Bigg Boss show, he made sure Naa Saami Ranga would be completed within the deadlines.

Directed by first-timer Vijay Binni under the banner of Srinivasa Silver Screen, the movie is planned for release on the 14th of this month for Sankranthi. As the promos promised, Naa Saami Ranga is a perfect festival movie.

For now, Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Venkatesh’s Saindhav, Ravi Teja’s Eagle, Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga and Teja Sajja’s Hanu Man are announced for Sankranthi 2024 release. Though some of the industry bigwigs have been holding talks, the makers of all the above films are strict on their stand. Guntur Kaaram is the most awaited film in the race and the theatricals are valued at Rs 150 crores. Saindhav theatrical rights are valued at Rs 30-35 crores including all the languages. Hanu Man is also heading for a big release and the Telugu theatrical rights are valued at Rs 12-14 crores including USA. Nag’s Naa Saami Ranga in Tricky Situation

King Nagarjuna has high hopes on his upcoming film Naa Saami Ranga and the film would be an apt one for Sankranthi. But with a bunch of releases around and the poor show from the recent Nag’s films, Naa Saami Ranga is struggling to get impressive deals. The actor is reportedly charging Rs 10 crores as remuneration for Naa Saami Ranga and the non-theatrical deals are yet to be closed. Though Nag wanted Disney Plus Hotstar to buy the digital and satellite rights, the OTT platform is in merger process with Jio and the deals may take longer time. The film’s producer Srinivasaa Chitturi is offering the Andhra theatrical rights (excluding Ceeded) for Nagarjuna instead of his remuneration.

Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios has to release the film across Andhra if the actor is ready. He is left in a tricky situation for now. The producer has to bear all the risk as none of the deals from Naa Saami Ranga are closed. The makers in talks with the distributors and most of them suggested to walk out of Sankranthi race. A decision would be made very soon. For now, Naa Saami Ranga is slated for January 14th release. Vijay Binni is making his directorial debut with Naa Saami Ranga and Allari Naresh, Raj Tarun played other prominent roles. The shoot of the film will be wrapped up by January 5th, 2024.

Naa Saami Ranga: A Bigger Risk for Producer

0

Nagarjuna’s theatrical market reached to rock bottom after the poor performances of his recent films. The actor is busy wrapping up the shoot of Naa Saami Ranga and the makers are aiming a Sankranthi 2024 release. With a bunch of films releasing during the season, the pre-release business of Naa Saami Ranga may not be a comfortable one for buyers. The makers are yet to close the non-theatrical deals of Naa Saami Ranga. The film’s final budget will touch Rs 65 crores including all the expenses and remunerations.

Selling off all the rights and releasing Naa Saami Ranga for Sankranthi would be a risk for the producer. The distributors are not ready to buy the film but they are ready to release Naa Saami Ranga on an advance basis. The producer should take up the complete risk if the film releases during Sankranthi. Though Nagarjuna suggested Disney Plus Hotstar to acquire the non-theatrical rights, the quote was not satisfactory considering the budget of Naa Saami Ranga. The film’s producer Srinivasaa Chitturi is puzzled about the film’s release but Nag wants Naa Saami Ranga to be in Sankranthi race.

Recovering Rs 65 crores before release is not an easy task now and the production house also delivered a series of flops in a row. Though the producer made money, the distributors lost big through Seetimaar, Warrior, Skanda, Custody and others. Naa Saami Ranga will have a tough time for now and the risk lies on the producer.

MM Keeravani is scoring the music and Srinivasaa Chitturi is the producer. Mirnaa and Rukshar Dhillon will be seen in other important roles.
