Sankranthi 2024: No space for Tamil Films
Sankranthi 2024 is packed with five Telugu films: Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav, Family Star, Eagle and Hanu Man. There are debates that couple of films will get postponed as there would be no theatres available for five films during the holiday season. Considering the stake involved, Guntur Kaaram should get a wide release. The distributors are mounting pressure to release three films during the holiday season. A clarity on the exact release chart will be out in December.
Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam and Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan are announced for Sankranthi 2024 release. Dhanush’s big-budget attempt Captain Miller which was slated for December 15th release is now moved for Sankranthi. With a heap of Telugu films lined up, there would be no space for Tamil releases this year. It would be quite tough to allocate minimum number of screens for Tamil films as the bet on the Telugu films would be higher. Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav and Eagle are made on massive budgets. All the Tamil films may get a Telugu release after the completion of Sankranthi holidays.
