Out of Jail, Revanth Gets Rousing Welcome

0

TDP MLA Revanth Reddy, who is facing cash-for-vote charges, was set free this afternoon at 5.27 PM from Cherlapally Jail.

Revanth Reddy, who had been in jail for over a month, walked free out of Jail to a rousing welcome by Family members, fellow MLAs and party workers. Andhra Pradesh High Court granted bail to the MLA on Tuesday. Thousands of Yellow flags fluttered in the air. Crakers were burst to celebrate the occasion.  TDP, which was, badly hit by the cash-for-vote scam, in which Revanth Reddy was caught red-handed by Anti-corruption bureau team, wants to enthuse the party workers by turning the occasion of release of its MLA from jail into a spectacular event. Suddenly, the jail premises transformed into an arena for show of strength.

Family members as well as Supporters of TDP MLA from as far off places as Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Anatapuramu districts arrived in Cherlapally. The plan was to take him  to NTR Trust Bhavan, TDP headquarters in a rally. First the Police did not allow the rally as it had no permission. Chants of ‘Revanth Reddy zindabad’ and ‘KCR down down’ rent the air. Later police relented. The rally proceeded towards TDP headquarters.

Addressing the huge gathering Revanth Reddy lambasted Telangana chief ministers KCR in choicest expletives. He said he would tour entire state and arouse youth against the exploitation of the state by KCR family. He said,” the people of Telangana would one day crush the family under their feet”. KCR had implicated him in a false case just because he was questioning the mis-rule of KCR, Reddy told the cheering crowds

EC Seeks Day-to-day Update on Cash-for-vote Case

0

Election commission of India(ECI) is keen on knowing the progress of investigation into the cash-for-vote scam that is rocking the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana following the arrest of TDP MLA Revanth Reddy.

The commission has reportedly instructed Banwarlal, the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra and Telangana, to keep it posted with the progress of the investigation on day-to-day basis.

The commission is taking the case as a model one as it is for the first time that an MLA was arrested while offering money to another MLA to influence his voting and a chief minister of another state is involved. Even though cash-for-vote scams are not uncommon, catching the MLA red-handed has never happened in history of Independent India, said a senior functionary with the ECI.

“This is going to be a model case for us. We are closely watching the case and its investigation. Everything depends on the outcome of the ACB court,” the functionary told Telugu360.com.

The election commission has filed petition in the court urging it to provide information regarding the cash-for-vote scam.

However, ACB denied it stating that it could part with information only after court decides on the case.

Regarding the disqualification of the MLAs involved in the crimes, the EC sources said, ” the  disqualification is made automatic after the court conviction. A  2013 Supreme Court judgment made the disqualification automatic after conviction of the MLA by the court,” the sources said.

Meanwhile, the commission directed the district collectors and respective political parties ensure that all MPTC ( Mandal Parishat Territorial Constituency) member from leaving district without permission in the run up to the Election to the Legislative Council of Andhra Pradesh. Commission also asked the collectors to keep watch on the activities of political parties in order prevent holding of MPTCs in camps. The commission informed the parties that the expenditure incurred in running the camps would be added to the election expenditure and initiate steps to disqualify the members if it is found exceeding the limits.

Election commission issued these instructions following the complaints from YSR Congress against TDP’s attempts to buy it MPTC members with money in Prakasham and Nellore districts. YSRC alleged that TDP was buying the MPTCs by offering upto Rs 3 lakh per vote in the on going Legislative Council election. The polling is scheduled on July 3, 2015

Babu in Trouble: Court Directs Police to Slap Sedition Case

0

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu ended up in trouble for his statements that excites disaffection towards the Government of Telangana. Rangareddy Court in Hyderabad directed LB Nagar police to file sedition and criminal conspiracy case against Chandrababu Naidu.Accordingly, LB Nagar DCP filed IPC Section 124-A and 120-A of Indian Penal Code. While the former section deals with sedition, the latter deals with criminal conspiracy. Five others were slapped with similar sections in this case. The court, which heard the petition of an advocate, has given this direction to the police. The LB Nagar police said that they would soon submit a report on the same.

What did Chandrababu Naidu say?

In a recent television interview, after cash-for-vote scam broke out, Chandrababu Naidu said that it would be the last day of Telangana Government in case ACB (which is probing this infamous case) attempts to arrest him.

 What does Sedition mean?

If anyone makes any statement or sign or visible representation that attempts to bring disaffection towards the Government established by law in India, he/she will be liable to be punished with life imprisonment to which fine may be added to. It has to be mentioned here that Chandrababu’s statement that the government would fall will fairly attract this section. Any leader has the right to criticise political leaders and political parties but can’t speak anything against that will attempt to overthrow the government, said legal experts.

Criminal Conspiracy:

When two or more persons gather and discuss to conspire a plan to commit crime in near or far future, it can be termed as criminal conspiracy. The punishment for criminal conspiracy is capital punishment/death sentence or life imprisonment or rigorous imprisonment of two years to which fine may be added to. Chandrababu Naidu should now at least withdraw these disaffection statements in order to protect himself. While cash-for-vote itself is a bigger problem, the statement that it would be the last day of Telangana Government can be a final nail in TDP’s coffin.

EC to Crack Whip Against TDP?

0

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n a major jolt to Telugu Desam Party, the Election Commission of India shifted its focus to the ongoing infamous cash-for-vote scam. EC on Thursday filed a memo in the ACB Court in Hyderabad seeking duplicate copy of the report submitted by FSL.

It may be noted that FSL on Wednesday submitted a preliminary report on the audio that’s alleged to be of Chandrababu Naidu. If ascertained that the voice is that of Chandrababu Naidu, TDP supremo might have to face legal consequences. It has to be mentioned here that cash-for-vote scam came to light when ACB sleuths apprehended TDP MLA Revant Reddy. The same night, media released the footage of the sting operation that showed Revant Reddy promising five crore rupees to nominated MLA to Telangana assembly, Stephenson, in case he votes for TDP candidate in MLC elections.

Days after that sting operation went viral, vernacular media aired the audio tapes that allegedly contained conversation between Chandrababu and Stephenson. While TDP said that the audio was fabricated and also said that the phones were tapped, Telangana Government stressed that telephone lines were not fabricated.  Now that Election Commission has also plunged into this activity, it might take an action against Chandrababu Naidu only if it’s proved that the voice in the audio is that of Chandrababu. The experts said that the action could be banning the political party or its supremo from contesting elections and exercising his vote.

Notably, Election Commission earlier took such strong decisions and Shiv Sena’s Bal Thackeray can be cited as an example as he was banned from exercising his vote for a period of six years for proving guilty in a communal violence case. How and when Election Commission is going to crack its whip against TDP has now become the talk of the town.

TDP Reenacting Cash-for-vote in AP as well

0

YSR Congress alleged that the TDP was continuing its dubious policy of fielding candidates in MLC elections where it does not have required strength with the hope that it could buy the votes with money.

The party also alleged that the TDP had been misusing official machinery besides blatantly displaying its money power even after getting in to soup in Telangana region.

“As a matter of principle, we have fielded candidates only in Prakasam and Kurnool districts where we have strength. But TDP also entered the fray knowing fully well that it does not have sufficient numbers which shows that it is up to replaying the same script that backfired as cash-for-vote scam in Telangana,” party senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana said on Thursday.

He said the TDP was trying to misuse official machinery to manipulate the numbers and the officials should act should not become party to it.

During the day, a delegation of YSRC comprising Balineni Srinivasulu Reddy, YV Subbareddy, Adimulam Suresh etc lodged a complaint with state chief election officer Banwalal. They said TDP offered to pay upto Rs 3 lakh to the YSRC members to crossvote for TDP candidate in Prakasham MLC elections.

Stating that TDP MLC candidate Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy was luring MPTCs with money the delegation urged Election Commission to disqualify Reddy  from the contest.

Gali Back in Action and Raps KCR

0

TDPs’ most voluble leader and MLC-elect Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu is back in action. He has been silent for quite some time. Ever since he was defeated  in 2014 by YSRC’s equally voluble Roja, Gali has been maintaining low key. Now that he has been elected from Chittoor district to Legislative Council, Gali has marked his reentry with an attack on KCR. On Thursday he took strong objection to KCR’s  meeting with nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson in his farmhouse. He accused KCR of influencing the cash-for-vote case through the complainant. “Stephenson is principal complainant. Can a chief minister hold a meeting with the complainant of case when it is in the crucial stage of investigation,” Gali asked. He said the whole episode of cash-for-vote reeks conspiracy and  KCR and Jagan had joined hands to hatch the conspiracy, he added. “When entire Andhra Pradesh was in thick of agitation for the implementation of Section 8, Jagan say the provision I  already in force. What does it mean? Are you in league of KCR in the campaign for the abrogation of Section.8 from AP reorganisation Act,” Gali said.

… And Now Luxury Buses for Naidu and KCR

0

Once in power you would become the owner of chest of tax-payers money. You can satisfy your whims and fancies with tax-payers money either in the name of security or public purpose. Now, chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are going to acquire bullet-proof and fire-proof luxury buses for their tours across their states. It is in stark contrast to the photograph doing rounds in social media of Britain Prime Minister Cameron who travelled standing in London Metro as he could not get a seat to sit. The buses of our Telugu chief minsters are designed to suit their administrative and personal choice at the cost of Rs 5 crore each. Chandigarh’s JCBL is building these buses with all amenities. Chief Ministers can carry their CMO’s in the bus. They can even hold meetings with a dozen of secretaries in the new bus. Apart from bullet-proofing and fire-proofing, bath room, satellite connective etc. have also been fitted. T-CM is planning to travel along the Haritha Haram in the bus. The arrival of AP CM’s bus will take some more time. Both, Indian politicians, especially South India, are known for their pomp when in power. The splendid display of authority at the public cost is now reaching a level vulgarity.

YSRC Cries Foul at TDP’s Corruption in MLC election

0

YSRCP demanded that TDP candidate Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy be declared not qualified to remain in contest in elections to legislative Council from local bodies constituency of Prakasam district.

A delegation consisting of deputy leader in Assembly J Nehru, party senior leader Prof Umareddy Venkateswarlu etc met state election chief Banwarlal on Wednesday to lodge a comlaint against Srinivasulu Reddy.

They said Reddy was trying to buy out voters, MPTC members, by offering Rs. 2.5 lakh per vote. They also said Reddy was holding all these MPTC at an unknown place to prevent them from voting freely in the election. They handed over CDs containing the versions of YSRC members who were offered money by TDP candidate to Banwarlal.

YSRC: TDP’s Noise on Sec.8 is Drama

0

[dropcap] Y[/dropcap]SR Congress rapped TDP for trying to divert the attention of the people to cover up its role in cash-for-vote scam by selectively popping up the provisions of the State Reorganisation Act as serious issue.

The party said the hullabaloo about section-8 of the act by TDP was meaning less as it had been in force ever since  bifurcation bill  got presidential assent.

Party MLA Rajendranath Reddy said there were more important issues than section 8 to fight for and to exert pressure on union government.

“Along with Section 8 there are other provisions like the Special Status, funds for Polavaram, assurance to de-notify degraded forest land for building the capital city, which are all in force from the appointed date June 2, 2014 but TDP is bring up non issues one after the other as a diversionary tactic,” he said.

He wondered as to why TDP had been silent on the issue like polavaram.

The Rs 100 crore allocated to Polavaram by the Centre is only to set up the Project Authority and the State Government is silent on the issue, even though there has been no funding for the project, he added.

“The TDP has not consulted any of the political parties to put collective effort on the implementation of the provisions of Act. It has been governing in a dictatorial manner eschewing democratic practices,” he said.

Stating that invoking Section 8 does not arise as it is already in force, Reddy said the ruling party highlighting issue time and again only to cover up its failures and growing unpopularity in the state and to divert the attention of the people from the cash for vote scam in Telangana.

Jyothula Nehru Slams Babu

0

[dropcap]Y[/dropcap]SRCP leader Jyothula Nehru has lashed out at Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Expressing his anguish over the alleged involvement of Andhra Pradesh police in protecting fourth accused (A-4) Muthiah in cash-for-vote scam, Nehru said that it was unfortunate to send DGP to governor over protection of Muthiah. Addressing the media at YSRCP office in Hyderabad, Nehru questioned as to why AP Government is involving in cash-for-vote scam, as the issue is between TDP and Telangana Government.

He has further said that people came to know about the facts in cash-for-vote scam and thus stopped believing in Chandrababu Naidu’s statements. Expressing his concern about farming, Nehru slammed Babu and said that the chief minister was exerting extra burden on farmers by doubling the water cess. It has to be mentioned here that YSRCP has been vehemently criticising Babu ever since this scam broke out. In fact, its supremo YS Jaganmohan Reddy (although on pilgrimage now) shifted his base to Delhi and met several key leaders to explain the alleged involvement of Chandrababu Naidu in cash-for-vote scam.

Leave Controversies to Law: Venkaiah Appeals to Telugu CMs

0

[dropcap]N[/dropcap]early a month after Telugu chief ministers—Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao- apparently started off war of words over the infamous cash-for-vote scam, the union minister Venkaiah Naidu (who is often regarded as the statesman) has spoken on the issue.

Stressing on the need for peace, Venkaiah Naidu has said that the duo must now put all the controversies to rest. He said that they must stop shooting dialogues at each other. Instead, he said, KCR and Babu must leave all the controversies to the law of the land.

It may be recalled that Chandrababu Naidu came under heavy criticism after the arrest of his MLA from Telangana state, Revant Reddy. Babu, who held a public meet in Vijayawada shortly, took pot shots at KCR and said that even he had ACB.

Coming down heavily on these statements, KCR said that even Lord Brahma wouldn’t save Chandrababu Naidu. According to experts, both the chief ministers must have refrained from personal statements when law was taking its own course of action. Today, Venkaiah Naidu too came out with similar opinion.

Let us truly hope that Telugu chief ministers will now at least put these controversies at rest and work together for the development of two states.

TDP Uses Brahmastram Against Governor, Repents Later

0

As cash-for-vote scam involving TDP legislator from Telangana region is intensifying with ACB reportedly getting a letter from the election commission asking its sleuths for a stringent probe, TDP leaders are trying to use all their brahmastrams.

It is known that TDP folks recently brought in section eight of AP Reorganisation Act into the picture. As Governor ESL Narasimhan is not responding despite TDP supremo Chandrababu meeting him time and again over the implementation of governor’s law and order in Hyderabad, the party leaders chose to target ESL Narasimhan, the constitutional head of the state.

TDP senior leader Acham Naidu recently, in a press meet, addressed the governor as ‘you’ (without a pinch of respect) and said that he was acting as a ‘gangireddu’ (meaning a bull). Lashing out at governor, Acham Naidu said why governor was tight lipped when KCR said that Andhra Pradesh police cannot execute their duties in Hyderabad.

Centre Serious:

The Centre, which noticed these severe objectionable comments made by Acham Naidu against the governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, has reportedly warned AP chief secretary that TDP leaders were launching verbal attacks against the governor.

Acham Naidu Apologizes and Withdraws:

After learning that Centre expressed its serious concerns over derogatory comments he made against governor, Acham Naidu spoke to the media and said that he was apologetic about the statements he made. He elucidated that he made those remarks only in agony after he looked at the situation of Andhra Pradesh. In case my statements had hurt governor, I withdraw them immediately, added Acham Naidu.

Need for Naidu to Control Leaders:

It is known that TDP leaders are speaking whatever they want that are sometimes lacking logic and sounding contradictory. Earlier, Parakala Prabhakar, who spoke about cash for vote scam has said that the voice in the audio tapes was not that of Chandrababu Naidu. Shortly, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the audio was fabricated.

Even as these leaders continue to make contradictory statements, TDP MLC Somireddy went a step ahead and said that TRS was obstructing the bail of Revant Reddy. How can a political party influence the court was the question then. He was allegedly trying to send wrong messages to people on courts, which was again a matter of serious concern,

This confusion among leaders must be curtained. It is high time for Chandrababu Naidu to bring in a proper code of conduct within the party. Verbal attacks on political leaders are at times acceptable as criticism, however, using the same policy for courts, constitutional heads and constitution is highly not acceptable.

KTR Invites Venkaiah Naidu for International Summit

0

Telangana IT minister K Tarakarama Rao (KTR) met the union minister Venkaiah Naidu today in Delhi.

Although this meeting gained significance in the wake of the ongoing probe in to the infamous cash-for-vote scam, KTR told the media that he had held no secret meetings with Venkaiah Naidu.

Briefing more on the same, after meeting the BJP senior leader, KTR has said that he invited Venkaiah Naidu for an international conference that is scheduled to take place on August 22 and 23.

Venkaiah Naidu said he would attend the meeting, added Harish Rao. Responding to one of questions, KTR said that Andhra and Telangana people were living together like brothers in the common capital Hyderabad.

Muthiah Never Mentioned KCR’s Name in Complaint: Police

0

Sathyanarayanapuram circle inspector has said that Muthaiah, the fourth accused in the infamous cash for vote scam, never mentioned the names of ACB officials or KCR directly in his recent police complaint.

Briefing more on the same, CI Satyanarayana has said that Muthaiah alleged that he had life threat from people associated with Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

He even mentioned that he was getting threatening calls from unknown people and sought police protection.

It is known that this case has been handed over to the Andhra Pradesh CID police. It may be noted speculations were rife that Muthaiah complained against KCR and the Andhra Pradesh police might serve notices on him at any time.

ACB Serves Notices on Sandra Veeraiah, Vem

0

The investigation of anti corruption bureau of Telangana state intensified as the officials served notices on TDP Telangana MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and former legislator Vem Narender Reddy last night.

While Sandra was not available at his residence last night, reports indicated that the bureau sleuths informed his family members that he needs to attend the interrogation in next 48 hours.

Later, the cops reached Vem’s residence at around 11.30 pm. Vem, who spoke to the media after ACB officials left the place, said that the officers requested him to go with them for an inquiry.

As I am a patient, I told them (ACB) that I would see them in the day time, added Vem Narender Reddy.
The sources said that ACB is likely to serve notices to over a dozen TDP leaders, including MP CM Ramesh.

No Phone Tapping by T-Government: Intelligence?

0

The intelligence bureau (IB) today reportedly submitted a detailed report on the  phone tapping issue that was raised by TDP supremo and AP’s chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.

If the buzz is to be believed, the IB has clarified to the centre that no such phone tapping took place, as alleged by AP Government, and no  evidence whatsoever was  found in the preliminary investigation.

It is to be recalled that Chandrababu Naiduearlier wrote a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi alleging that Telangana Government had resorted to phone tapping and  about 124 phones of various functionaries in the government,  including the  one of  chief minister, had been bugged.

Accordingly, the centre directed the IB to look into the matter. Meanwhile, Chandrababu has convened a meeting with top brass of  state intelligence wing to discuss the issue.
