Telangana government introduces new rule for Ticket Hike

0

Telangana government had no objections for ticket hikes for the first two weeks for big-budget films. Recent biggie Kalki 2898 AD got a ticket hike in both the Telugu states. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy introduced a new rule to hike the ticket prices for Telugu films in the state. “Several producers are approaching the government of Telangana to hike the ticket prices. But the celebrities are not taking any social responsibility to educate the people against drug usage and cyber crimes. I have instructed my officials about the same” told Revanth Reddy.

He continued saying “A star has to come with a short video on how to curb cyber crimes and drug usage and release it to the public. This is a pre-condition. I have strictly instructed our officials and the video should last for 2 minutes. All the celebrities should be responsible and they have to educate the people. Spending crores on films and getting a hike is a good move. At the same time, the film industry has to be socially responsible. This is a pre-condition” told Revanth Reddy. This is a great initiative from the government of Telangana as the celebrities can take things to all the corners through strong video messages.

The Warrior proves it once again

1

The Warrior is the only mass entertainer of the season and it carried high expectations. The film got a huge release in Telugu and Tamil languages. The film opened on an average note and the day two numbers are completely disappointing. The ticket prices are hiked in Nizam region. The tickets in multiplexes are priced at Rs Rs 295 and Rs 350 excluding taxes. The tickets in single screens are sold for Rs 175. The Warrior had a disappointing opening in Nizam region. The day two numbers are below par. The collections are better in Andhra when compared to the Nizam region.

This is purely because of the ticket hike. The Warrior once again proved that the audience are not ready to watch films for hiked prices. Rs 150 in multiplexes and Rs 100 in single screens would be an ideal pricing as per the crowds. Dil Raju released The Warrior in Nizam region. Keeping the results aside, the distributors and exhibitors should be flexible with the ticket pricing and slash down the prices before further damage takes place. The Warrior clearly revealed the mindset of the audience.

Manchu Vishnu backs AP govt on movie ticket price issue

1

President of the Movie Artists Association and Tollywood actor Manchu Vishnu has backed the Andhra Pradesh government, saying it did the right thing by allowing producers to raise ticket prices.

Vishnu said the decision is ultimately up to the producers to hike ticket prices or not.

He also stated that the ticket price increase benefited only a few films, and most of the movies suffered losses because of this.

It is a big debate, and industry leaders and associations need to get together and talk about it to come up with a better solution, according to the ‘Mosagallu’ actor.

Vishnu also said that the issue needed addressing, as the industry must come together for brainstorming to arrive at a middle ground regarding the hike in movie ticket prices.

AP Tickets Issue: Wakeup Tollywood

1

So far Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and Natural Star Nani are the only actors who raised their voice against the low ticket pricing issue in AP. Surprisingly, none of the actors or filmmakers responded for the same when the entire exhibition industry is left in massive losses because of the new GO. Despite the High Court suspending the GO, the AP government is strict on its stand. With a lot of harassment from them, the exhibitors across the state decided to shut down the theatres voluntarily as they cannot sell the tickets for the prices of Rs 5, Rs 15 and Rs 20.

AP Theatrical market which holds a major share in the revenues of Telugu cinema reached rock bottom. There is a lot of confusion among the producers of the upcoming Telugu films. It’s high time for everyone to take it a responsibility and revolt against the AP government before the theatrical market in the state heads for closure. Taking up the issue is the need of the hour for Telugu cinema. Else, Tollywood would suffer huge losses soon.

Suresh Babu’s sensational comments on Ticketing System

0

Veteran Producer Suresh Babu sounds quite practical and goes with the flow. He gets updated as per the trend and some of his recent films produced on Suresh Productions headed for a direct digital release. Though he was criticized, Suresh Babu made open statements that he and his partners are not ready to suffer losses during the pandemic times. During his recent media interaction, Suresh Babu made some sensational comments on the low ticket pricing and how the exhibition industry is shattered with the move.

“There would be a price for every product in the market. It is not wise to restrict the prices for movie tickets as the big-budget films would suffer badly to recover their investments. There are talks about black tickets which hardly exist for a day or two. I am surprised by the restrictions imposed on ticket prices. Considering the current ticket prices, it would be quite tough for the theatre owners to recover the electricity charges. The governments are ignoring our film industry. If the situations continue to be the same, the exhibition industry would be vanished” told Suresh Babu.

Tollywood’s one last try for Ticket Prices

0

The government of Andhra Pradesh is strict on its stand and is not in a mood to revise the ticket prices in the state. The theatrical revenues have been badly impacted in the state. The distributors are demanding a cut in the theatrical deals for all the upcoming biggies and the producers have to bear the stress. Films like Akhanda, Pushpa, RRR and others will be impacted for sure. Several celebrities met AP Cinematography Minister Perni Nani who promised to update them after holding talks with the CM of Andhra Pradesh.

Months passed and there is no update about the ticket pricing. Several Tollywood celebrities are now in plans to meet YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and explain to him how the theatrical market got affected. YS Jagan’s appointment is sought and an update on this is expected soon. If the AP Government revises the GO, it would be a huge boost for all the biggies that are releasing in December and January.
