Tollywood producers pledged to maintain a healthy gap of 8 weeks (minimum) between the theatrical release and the digital release. Though some of the producers have been implementing this, most of them are not much bothered. Several films are ready for streaming even before the theatrical run is coming to an end. Top producer Dil Raju’s recent film Family Star released on April 5th and the film will be available on Amazon Prime from April 26th. This is just three weeks from the theatrical release.

This is not a good sign for the theatrical business and it will have a strong impact on the footfalls for sure. Dil Raju who also happens to be the President of Telugu Film Chamber has been ignoring the promises made for Telugu cinema. Dil Raju is not the only producer to break the rules, but most of them are not much bothered. They are keen to recover most of their investment through the OTT deals and other non-theatrical deals.

After the super success of DJ Tillu, Siddhu and his team worked on Tillu Square. The film released last month and is a blockbuster all over. Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s performance is appreciated and it is the major USP of the film. Youth flocked to theatres to witness the noise of Tillu. Netflix acquired the digital streaming rights of the film well in advance. Tillu Square will now be available for streaming on Netflix from April 26th in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages. The film will be available on the digital platform in just four weeks of its theatrical run.

Tillu Square is still raking decent revenues during the holiday season. The makers should have pushed the digital release for two more weeks as there are no major Telugu releases in summer. Tillu Square is directed by Mallik Ram and Anupama Parameshwaran is the leading lady. Sithara Entertainments are the producers. The team announced Tillu Cube and the shooting formalities will kick-start during the second half of 2025.

Star Boy Siddhu Jonnalagadda has grown in stature as a writer-actor with a variety of films. He achieved a cult blockbuster with DJ Tillu and as Tillu, he became a household name. He worked hard on bringing a sequel to DJ Tillu for the past two years and finally, Tillu Square, released on 29th March, worldwide.

The movie has collected Rs.101.4 crores gross worldwide, in just 9 days of release. Upon release of DJ Tillu, back in 2022, in an interview with a famous daily newspaper, he stated that he wants to deliver a Rs. 100 crores grosser in the next three years. Now, he has achieved the goal he had set for himself. The movie has received critical and audiences acclaim and it could reach even bigger milestones at the box office.

Anupama Parameswaran has played the leading lady role and Mallik Ram has directed the film. Suryadevara Naga Vamsi has produced the movie on Sithara Entertainments

Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star is the latest release but the word of mouth is extremely bad. Tillu Square will take a huge advantage during this holiday season and it is expected to end up as a massive hit. The day two numbers of Family Star started on a disastrous note in the Telugu states. Tillu Square witnessed better footfalls than Family Star today. Malayalam dubbed film Manjummel Boys too opened on a good note in Telugu states today.

Festivals like Ugadi and Ramzan are due next week and it will be a huge advantage for Tillu Square for sure. Manjummel Boys too is expected to collect decent money considering the occupancies today. Siddhu started the next set of promotions of Tillu Square and he is touring across the theatres from today. Tillu Square is directed by Mallik Ram and is produced by Sithara Entertainments.
