Hyderabad: After tasting the jubilant victory in the just concluded Assembly elections in Telangana, TRS party is now busy with charting a new strategy to repeat the same success in forthcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2019. As part of it, TRS will target BJP more than any other party like Congress, for not fulfilling promises mentioned in AP Reorganisation Act-2014 and several pending issues pertaining to irrigation and other projects in Telangana. Highlighting the pending issues from the NDA government will fetch twin benefits to TRS. The first one is that it will equip TRS with enough ammunition to fight in Lok Sabha elections. The second advantage is that it can send a message to not only Telanganites, but also entire nation that it doesn’t have any under current agreement with the saffron party. The first advantage will get votes in Telangana and second advantage will help TRS in Federal Front activity.
As a preset to the Lok Sabha elections, TRS MPs will begin attacking BJP government in Parliament winter session. Telangana chief minister and TRS party supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao has reportedly prepared a blueprint on how to fix BJP in the Lok Sabha over pending issues and not fulfilled bifurcation commitments. KCR has listed out 52 pending issues to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government.
TRS won 11 MP, out of 17 Lok Sabha seats, and 63 Assembly seats, out of 119, in 2014 elections. Ch Malla Reddy, who won on TDP ticket from Malkajgiri, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who won on YSRCP ticket from Khammam, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, who won on Congress ticket from Nalgonda, defected to TRS taking the total tally to 14 MPs in TRS kitty. Now, the pink party is targetting to sweep all the Lok Sabha seats in Telangana leaving Hyderabad MP slot to its ally AIMIM.
“We don’t want to leave any chance to any other party in Lok Sabha elections. Sweeping 16 MP seats and support of AIMIM will ensure more than enough bargaining strength to TRS to lobby with the Centre. This will put TRS in an advantageous position to get the things done for Telangana. Whether it be project approvals, funds release, attracting FDI, etc,” said a senior TRS MP.
The major demands include division of high court, construction of air strips at Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad and Mahbubnagar, enhancing reservations for minorities, OBCs and STs. The another major demand that’s pending with the Centre is for linking MGNREGA with agriculture operations is another issue that needs to be given priority by the Centre.
