Tata Power Solar, Indias largest integrated solar company, has won India Solar Week Excellence Awards 2017 in 100-MW or below project based category.
A company release said on Monday that the award was given for “excellence in commissioning” 100 MW solar project for the NTPC in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
The release said the 100-MW solar power project is the biggest commissioned using domestically manufactured solar cells and modules.
The project spread over 500 acres has been set up in partnership with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
The release said the project was executed nearly three months ahead of the deadline and is designed to produce nearly 160 million units (kWh) of energy annually. This will help offset approximately 1,10,000 tonnes of CO2 in the first year.
Founded in 1989, Tata Solar Power was originally formed as a joint venture between Tata Power and British Petroleum Solar (BP Solar). It now operates independently as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power.
The release said that Tata Power Solar is one of the pioneering solar manufacturers in the world and India’s largest specialised Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) player.
It has a production capacity of 400 MW of modules and 300 MW of cells.
