The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has ended the suspense over its candidates for the MLC elections under the MLA quota. Chief Minister and TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, after thorough deliberations, announced the names of three candidates for the upcoming MLC polls. The party has fielded Kavali Grishma (SC), Beeda Ravichandra (BC), and BT Naidu (BC) for the three seats. With the nomination deadline set for Monday, the selected candidates are busy preparing their nomination papers.
A total of five MLC seats are up for grabs under the MLA quota. The TDP has already allocated one seat to its ally, Jana Sena, which has nominated Konidela Nagababu. The remaining four seats have been a topic of intense discussion within the party.
While the TDP had a large pool of hopefuls, the party decided to allocate one seat to its coalition partner, the BJP, as part of their alliance agreement. This move, however, has left some TDP aspirants disappointed. Party leaders have assured them that opportunities will arise in 2027 when seven MLC seats will become vacant.
Among the hopefuls who missed out this time are former MLA Varma, ex-minister Jawahar, Duvvada Ramarao, and TD Janardhan. Despite their aspirations, the party leadership has prioritized coalition commitments and strategic decisions.
