The ruling TDP cadre in Andhra Pradesh said to be worried after the fourth edition of the Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme, held from January 2 to 11. This failed to yield desired results for the government.Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been conducting these programmes since his last stint in office as a vehicle to reach government programmes at gross-root level.
However, this time programme failed to generate enthusiasm among people as most of the problems raised by them in previous Janmabhumis are yet to be resolved in most places. Instead of attempting to present a report card on the performance of the government since last Janmabhumi how it resolved local problems, Chief Minister, ministers and MLAs limited themselves for giving political speeches.
It became controversial when the ruling party make use this programme to attack opposition parties with abusive languages. TDP leaders were embarrassed when their alliance partner BJP leaders too resorted to questioning the government with regard to several problems at some places. The opposition accused that the government instead of make use of this programme to resolve public issues, turned into party campaign and misusing public money.
APCC President Dr N Raghuveera Reddy demanded that the expenditure met for Janmabhumi programmes should be collected from the ruling TDP. In a letter addressed to Governor ELS Narasimhan he urged to collect the amount from TDP and deposit the same in government’s treasury.
He also mentioned that at several places, Chief Minister had appealed the public to vote him in 2019 polls. He brought to the notice of the Governor that one dalith saprnach had attempted on his life due to pressures from TDP leaders in Kambadur mandal of Anantapur district.
In fact, several TDP leaders suggested for postponement of Janmabhumi programme as party leaders are bound to face public ire since most of problems mentioned during earlier Janmabhumi were not resolved. But Chief Minister has decided to go ahead.
