Till now, BJP leaders in both the Telugu states have been complaining that the respective state governments are diverting central funds, intended for specific programmes are being used for other purposes. Now, the TDP leaders in Telangana have decided to make use it as a weapon targeting the `misrule’ of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
They have decided to hold a `Delhi Yatra’ on February 7, 8 and 9 to complain against the TRS government for alleged diversion of central funds for other programmes. This was decided at a meeting of the state party leaders held last evening at NTR Bhavan. Party state president L Ramana and state working president A Revanth Reddy were present.
In Delhi, they have decided to meet the Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh and submit a memorandum detailing how the Telangana government ‘diverted’ the central funds sanctioned to the state towards input subsidy for farmers.
They are also planning to submit another memorandum to Union urban development minister M.Venkaiah Naidu explaining him about the KCR government’s failure in spending the funds released to the state under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the construction of one lakh houses for weaker sections of society.
Later, they have decided to lodge a complaint with the Union minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot about the diversion of funds released by the Centre under SC/ST sub-plan for other programmes.
Finally, the TDP team is proposing to meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and present him a report on how the state government is forcibly taking lands from farmers by bringing in a new Land Act.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leadership in Telangana is struggling hard to revive its fortunes after desertion of most of its MLAs and leaders to the ruling TRS. While 15 MLAs were elected in 2014, as many as 12 of them deserted to the ruling party.
