Even after finance ministry’s last evening clarification that jewellery bought from disclosed income will not be taxed under existing or proposed amended provisions, apprehensions raised among people that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s next target will be gold after demonetization failed to put on rest. Many women are seen on Telugu news channels today expressing for their agony and fears against such alleged move.
Many leaders and women, who were seen on Telugu TV news channels were seen warning that in the name of `cashless economy’ if Modi resorts to `gold less economy’, the people will opts for `BJP-less Bharat’.
Many says that jewellery up to 500 gm per married lady, 250 gm per unmarried lady and 100 gm per male member of the family will not be seized in the event of an income-tax (I-T) raid is part of existing provisions and nothing new. In Andhra Pradesh, surprisingly both TDP and Congress leaders join the chorus in warning Modi government against such a move.
TDP MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao went to the extent of branding such exercise a symbol of Tuglak’s regime. He warned the central government that if out of over enthusiasm the government dare to touch women’s gold it will face their anger. He also dismissing finance ministry’s indication that women need to prove some proof of ancestral gold ornaments. He said that women are up in arms against government’s restrictions on holding of gold ornaments.
AP Pradesh Pradesh Congress President Raghuveera Reddy deplored that Modi’s eye is now turned towards women’s’ `mangala sutrams’. Stating that gold reflects emotional attachment between mother and children, he warned if Modi dares to touch such ornaments, he cannot escape from turning to be `ashes’ due to their angry. He described Modi’s rule as a stone in the hands of a mentally disturbed person.
