TDP exits NDA government
Finally AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu, announced resignation of 2 union ministers belonging to TDP. TDP is the 2nd party to exit National Democratic Alliance. First one was Shiva sena. Out of the 40+ parties and total of 332 MPs that are part of NDA, BJP is the largest with 275, 2nd largest was Shivasena with 18 MPs, TDP was 3rd largest with 16 MPs, Lok Janashakti at 4th place with 6 MPs, Akali Dal is 5th largest partner with 4 MPs. Now with Shiva Sena and TDP exiting, NDA strength comes down to 298.
Chandra Babu Naidu (CBN) clarified that TDP is exiting NDA for the sake of people of AP. He told, BJP is not at all in the position of doing any sort of favor to Andhra Pradesh. He added, if they have any intention to help us, we are more than willing to explain everything to BJP but it seems BJP doesn’t want even to listen to our concerns. Salient points from his addressing as below:
- We are resigning from NDA government at the moment.
- We have taken this crucial decision keeping in mind, people of AP and development of AP.
- Not yet decided on completely coming out of NDA alliance group. That means TDP party is still in NDA but we are not in the government
- Completely exiting from NDA will be in the next phase. But we will first wait for BJP response on our move.
- We have already informed PM Modi about resignations by TDP MPs (Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Sujana Chowdary);
- Though TDP MPs resigned from NDA, we have not yet decided on BJP ministers in AP government (Manikyala Rao and Kamineni)
- We have never joined NDA for ministries or posts. We joined NDA for the development of AP
- We patiently waited for 4 years but there was no response from BJP.
- Though I am senior leader in contemporary politics, I never had any ego problems; I led UF (United Front), NF (National Front), and NDA1.
- I tried to convey AP people’s sentiments to PM several times.
- BJP is trying to malign us by saying, we (AP) are asking for the money allotted for defense sector. But we have never asked from the money allotted for defense sector.
- We just asked special status to AP that is given to North East states.
- CBN declined to respond on third front and told this is crucial time and not the time for talking politics.
