The VVPATs counting controversy is continuing even weeks after the May 23 election results. TDP MLA candidate Bonda Uma filed a petition in the court. He said that the counting officials didn’t consider his request for counting of VVPATs at the 11 polling stations in Vijayawada Central segment before announcing the result.
The court heard his petition and asked the Election Commission lawyer to go through the complaint. The next hearing will take place on June 18. Uma was defeated by YCP Malladi Vishnu with a margin of 25 votes.
In his complaint, Uma argued that he had doubts over the EVMs counting. He raised the same and asked for rechecking with VVPATs but the counting officials didn’t consider his plea. From the beginning, the TDP leaders are saying that they will fight against the result in Vijayawada Central segment. Its result announcement was also delayed for long due to very narrow margin between TDP and YCP.
