Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday launched a counter offensive against the BJP’s sustained campaign against chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and TDP government in the Andhra Pradesh ignoring the ‘coalition dharma’. But the attack came from a low profile MLC Buddha Venkanna from Vijayawada. Dismissing all charges leveled by the BJP leaders, Purandeswari, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Kanna Lakshminanarayana and Somu Virraju, the TDP MLC alleged that the first three senior leaders were the agents of Congress in Bharatiya Janata Party.
“They joined BJP after enjoying power and pelf in Congress party, and Kanna, Purandeswari and Kavuri are agents of Sonia Gandhi,” he alleged. These leaders had no locus standi to criticize chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, he said. “We are constrained by the fact the BJP is our ally. The TDP is hesitating to attack the BJP just because we honor the coalition dharma,” Venkanna said in Vijayawada.
Questioning the credentials of Kanna Laskhminarayana, he asked, what was the property owned by Kanna when he was just an MLA and now. Kanna should explain to the people how he amassed so much wealth, he added. “How has Kavuri, a man who lived as a guest each day in a house in his village, earned hundreds of crores? ” he asked.
All these BJP leaders, Venkanna said, were seething with jealousy of the massive developmental works the chief minister had taken up in the state when they were all rejected by the people. Regarding Purandeswari, he said the former union HRD minister was jealous of her sister Bhuvaneswari and this was the reason for the sustained campaign against the chief minister and TDP government.
Talking about Somu Virraju, he said Virraju’s MLC ticket was the charity of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.
“He had an eye on a cabinet berth and he could not get it. So he is attacking Chandrababu Naidu out of frustration,” Venkanna, who got nominated to the Legislative Council in June 2015.
