Intensifying their battle against K Chandrashekhar Rao’s regime, Telangana TDP leaders went to Chief Minister’s constituency Gajwel and accused him of failing to fulfil even a single promise after coming to power.
During the ‘Praja Poru’ (people’s struggle) campaign which was flagged-off from Gajwel constituency, last evening they held a largely attended public meeting. TDP’s Telangana working president A Revanth Reddy pointed out that 3,005 farmers had committed suicide after the formation of Telangana, which is just short of Maharashtra where highest number of farmers’ suicides took place.
He also alleged that families of farmers who committed suicides were still visiting the revenue offices for ex-gratia.
He sought to know if KCR had done anything for his native village Chintamadaka and asked about how many acres of land was given to the Dalits of Chintamadaka. “The house where Professor Jayashankar lived in his native village is being purchased by someone and that person is trying to demolish it. Didn’t KCR promise that Professor Jayashankar’s house would be developed as a public library?” he asked.
TDP leaders recalled that distribution of 3 acres of land to each Dalit family, filling of lakhs of government jobs, total waiver of crop loans and construction of double bedroom houses to the poor are some of the key promises, made by the Chief Minister during the 2014 general polls.
“All these promised have remained unfulfilled, even after three years of the TRS assuming office. Further, because of the non-payment of pending dues relating to fee reimbursement scheme in the State, lakhs of college students are not allowed to go for higher studies,” they allege.
TDP President L Ramana, Telugu Rythu President Vanteru Pratap Reddy, TDP leaders Ravula Chandrashekar Reddy, Shashikala Yadava Reddy and others participated.
