Recently YS Jagan said that “Two years…in only two years, I’ll be the CM…” Jagan was trolled and also termed “over-confident”. Despite so many migrations into the ruling TDP from YSRCP and INC, ever wondered who is giving opportunities for him to win the next elections? The anti-incumbency factor is perpetual in the state. Sunday witnessed the atrocities of the namesakes of TDP leaders in Chirala and Hindupur.
A local journalist in Chirala town was brutally attacked by Amanchi Swamulu, brother of local MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan, in broad daylight as hundreds of people remained mute spectators. This incident garnered the attention of the national media as well. The delinquency of the journalist was to write a story in his local Telugu magazine about the alleged corrupt activities of the MLA and his brother like sand mafia and swindling of loans in the name of weaker sections.
At the center Venkaiah Naidu wants to control the media, at the state level Chandrababu Naidu blocks the channels of the opposition party and at the constituency level bunch of hooligans.
The defamation is the consequence of ‘Operation Akarsh’. TDP did not want to leave any scope for the resurgence of the YSR Congress, which backfired. Amanchi who was earlier part of INC, won as independent in 2014 and later joined TDP. Likewise, Jaleel Khan who said B.com has Physics, switched from INC to YSRCP and later to TDP. YSRCP’s loss of MLAs is still a turning into a victory for them. Naidu should start TDP boot camp for such migrators before allowing them to speak or act. The ruling party claims that YSRC MLAs are coming on their own impressed with the development agenda of Chief Minister. It is evident that these leaders grasped that Naidu will hail their mayhems.
Right to freedom of speech and expression has taken a toll in TDP’s reign, not only for the journalists but also for the TDP leaders. The internal strife in the Hindupur Assembly constituency unit of the Telugu Desam Party had come out into the open with the resignation of two of its leaders and the police imposing Section 144 across the Hindupur Assembly constituency. The TDP leaders attributed the reason for their resignation was the dictatorial attitude of Sekhar, personal assistant (PA) of local MLA Balakrishna.
The constituencies in AP are ruled by brothers, PAs, sons, while the leaders continue to maintain clean image. Although the followers are using goons as their force, the leader is using police force. ‘Police Terrorism’ as the opposition leader terms it, is one of the main styles of ruling by Chandrababu Naidu. The state failed to implement the fundamental right to assemble peacefully and without arms in several incidents. The CM uses section 144 everywhere in almost every situation including Land acquisition for Amaravati, Polavaram protests, peaceful struggles for special category status. The ruling party is filled with power mongers. People are disgruntled with the Naidu administration as they hardly seem to work for the welfare of people.
