Telugu Desam Party MLA Chinthamaneni Prabhakar is at it again. The MLA and his supporters were on Saturday booked by Kaikalur police in Krishna district on the complaint of forest officials.
A case of trespass and manhandling the public servants on duty booked against Prabhakar, who represents Denduluru in West Godavari district, for trying to lay a road through Atapaka bird sanctuary to Komatilanka in West Godavari district on Friday night.
Prabhakar recently hit headlines for assaulting a senior revenue official for preventing him from illegal sand mining. As opposition parties, revenue officials and woman organizations took up the cause of official Vanajaskshi, chief minister Naidu personally intervened in the dispute and persuaded the official to withdraw the case.
Now, Prabhakar is caught up in another case of high-handed behavior. The MLA and his men allegedly manhandled the forest officials on duty when the they tried to stop them from laying the road in a prohibited area. The officials said laying of the road in sanctuary was not only illegal and violates the provisions of conservation of wetlands designated by Ramasar convention. A home to pelicans, Atapaka is a is famous bird sanctuary near Kolleru lake attracting bird lovers all across the country. Kolleru is a designated Ramsar lake.
But, nothing would happen as he is an MLA from ruling party and it is incumbent upon the party boss to ensure his men carried their activities unhindered.
