Following several protests in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the controversial book ‘Komatollu Samajika Smagglarlu’ by Kancha Ilaiah, the Andhra Pradesh CID on registered a case against the author on Tuesday. The case was filed under Section 153A IPC (Promoting enmity between different groups based on religion, place and through other means) as per the orders of DGP N Sambasiva Rao.
On the other hand Telugu Desam Party MP and a prominent leader of the Arya Vysya community, TG Venkatesh reportedly said that the writer is a traitor and deserves to be hanged in public.
Responding to the appalling statement, the Dalit thinker asked if an MP can continue in his role after he issues a threat against a citizen.
Arya Vysya in the Telugu speaking states have been protesting and filed complaints at different police stations against the writer. They demanded withdrawal of the book for defaming the community.
The officials are pondering over the need to ban the book and if so the procedure to do so without any legal hurdles.
