The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to transfer the investigation of the attacks on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) central office and former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s residence to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). This move comes as a response to incidents that occurred during the previous YS Jagan YSRCP government’s tenure.
The case, which was initially being handled by the Mangalagiri and Tadepalli police stations, will now be under the scrutiny of the state’s elite investigative agency. The government’s order to transfer the case files to the CID is set to take effect on Monday, October 14, when the Mangalagiri DSP will officially hand over the documents.
On October 19, 2021, when YS Jagan mohan Reddy’s supporters of the then-ruling YSRCP attacked the TDP headquarters. The incident sent shockwaves through the state’s political landscape. According to reports, the attackers were believed to be followers of YSRCP leaders Devineni Avinash, Lella Appireddy, and Alla Ramakrishna Reddy.
But the violence didn’t stop there. In a separate incident, former minister Jogi Ramesh and ex-MP Nandigam Suresh, along with their supporters, reportedly targeted Chandrababu Naidu’s residence. These events left many questioning the state of law and order in Andhra Pradesh.
As the investigation progressed, several suspects, including Nandigam Suresh, were arrested by the police.
Now, with the case in the hands of the CID, many are hopeful for a more thorough and unbiased investigation as there many sympathisers of YS Jagan still in the System .
