For the first time the in past 40 years, Congress party has used the pictures of its opponents Telugu Desam and YSR Congress to seek people’ mandate for its candidate Ramreddy Sucharita Reddy in Palair Assembly constituency byelections.
The poster released by the Congress has the portraits of TDP’s NTR and Chandrababu Naidu, and YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Telangana president of the party Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on it.
The Grand Old party of India, given its predicament at the state and centre, is clearly urging the loyalists of rival parties to vote for its candidate to defeat TRS nominee and state minister Tummala Nageswar Rao.
As of now all three parties are rivals in Telangana, while Congress and TDP are arch rivals. TDP took birth in 1982 to teach Congress a lesson by invoking Telugu pride. TDP founder president NT Ramarao had successfully become rallying point for anti-Congress politics in India. He organized first of its kind anti-Congress conclave in Vijayawada which later led to the birth of National Front which formed government led by Vishwanath Pratap Singh. Now his photo has been flaunted by Congress for votes. Equally staunch opponent of Congress is Chandrababu Naidu. Congress sought his blessings also for it candidate. His picture is also seen on the poster. Similarly YSR Congress is specifically the child of anti-Sonia politics. Congress wants to exploit the image of Jagan as well. As for Rajasekhar Reddy , there won’t be any objection because he died as a Congress’ tallest leader in India during his times.
The poster rightly attracted the ire of K T Ramarao, minister and in-charge of Palair belections. He said TDP supporting Congress candidate in Palair byelections was the fall for the yellow party , whose basic ideology was anti-Congressism. ” NT Ramarao, pioneer of anti-politics in India, would be turning in his grave, ” KTR said in a meeting organized in connection with filing of nomination by Tummala Nageswara Rao in palair on Friday. He said TDP’s joining hands with Congress to defeat TRS was a matter of disgrace. ” It shows bankruptcy of Telugu Desam party. And people will teach them a lesson by voting TRS in a big way, ” he said adding Palair byelection was necessitated by peculiar situation and TRS’ win was necessary at this juncture.
