Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is gearing up for the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Towards this, the AP government has taken several key decisions to retain the vote bank of farmers, women and pensioners. The TDP government will table the Bill on economic weaker section (EWS) reservation of 10 per cent for upper castes in the forthcoming Assembly session. Andhra Pradesh (AP) Cabinet has approved the Bill for economic backward classes (EBC) in the State, while earmarking five per cent for Kapu community.
The AP Cabinet led by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has taken several key decisions including a massive plan for Amaravati capital city development.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has deceived Andhra Pradesh and its people. Moreover, the NDA government is not releasing the mandatory funds to the state. The Centre had to release Rs1,700 crore under rural employment assurance scheme, but so far nothing was done. Union minister Narender Singh told Lokesh that the Centre would give Rs400 crore and rest can be made later. Until then, the gap has to be met by mobilising debt,” said Naidu.
The chief minister further highlighted the land acquisition of 34,000 acres for the capital city, while terming it as first-of-its-kind in the world. “The development in Hyderabad was possible due to huge land bank. We didn’t have government land here. So, we have acquired over 34,000 acres and I appreciate the farmers for extending their help for the capital city construction,” added Naidu.
Naidu was in jubilant mood over the roll out of first car made in AP by KIA. He termed it as a historical event in the history of AP and appreciated the team of Industry Department secretary Salmon Arokhia, while suggesting for inclusion of these compliments in the minutes of Cabinet meeting.
