After coming to power, it is natural for political parties their capacity to collect donations multiplies. But according to the reports submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI), both the ruling parties in Telugu states claims that their revenues had fallen more than half.
As per the analysis prepared by poll watch dogs Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW), with regard to donations on and above of Rs 20,000, during 2015-16 Telugu Desam Party (TDP) got from 76 person, amounting Rs 3.1 crore, as against their donations of the previous year Rs 7.57 crore.
Likewise, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) also claims that their donations too fallen from Rs 8.69 crore of previous year to Rs 76 lakh last year, that too received only from three persons. The main opposition party in Andhra Pradesh YSR Congress Party also stated that it received Rs 1.65 crore donations from 33 persons, as against of Rs 7.6 crore in the previous year.
Five highest amount of donations received by TDP were from its Chitotor MLA Satya Prabha’s son D Srinivas Adikesavulu – Rs 1 crore, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas – Rs 50 lakh, Guntur MP – Jayadev Galla – Rs 25 lakh, union minister YS Chowdary – Rs 25 lakh and MLC Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy – Rs 10 lakh.
TRS has received donations of more than Rs 1 lakh only from two persons. They are A Pratap Reddy – Rs 50 lakh, and M/ Sri Krishna Agencies – Rs 25 lakh. The next highest amount it received was Rs 1 lakh from A Sudhakar Reddy.
YSRCP has received highest amount of Rs 73 lakh from P Surendra Reddy, followed by Rs 20 lakh from M/s Classic Realty Pvt. Ltd., Rs 10 lakh each from M/s Sunduru Power Co and Challa Madhusudan Reddy. It received Rs 8 lakh from T Jayaram Reddy.
