The opposition TDP leaders on Saturday alleged that their votes are being removed from the voters list in the state. The ruling YSR Congress leaders were mounting pressure on the election officials to remove the votes in every Assembly constituency.
TDP former MLA Kommalapati Sridhar told the reporters in Guntur, Sridhar displayed an audio clip in which some YSR Congress leaders were speaking about removal of the TDP sympathisers votes. He alleged that the YSR Congress leaders were now afraid of defeat and were removing the TDP sympathisers’ votes from the voter list.
They are asking voters on caste wise. They are forcing the officials to issue notices to those who are not at home, he said. In Pedakurapadu Assembly constituency too, they have removed the votes of TDP sympathisers in Amaravati, Bellamkonda, Achampeta and Krosuru mandals, votes are being removed, he said.
He made an appeal to the officials not to be afraid of the YSR Congress leaders. He wanted the officials to be fair and act as per the rule. The TDP would support such officials, the TDP former MLA said. He also cautioned the officials who support the ruling YSR Congress.
Sridhar alleged that the ruling YSR Congress was planning to win the next elections with the help of volunteers. All volunteers are YSR Congress activists, he said.
He said that people would prefer to have their votes in their native village. They would come to the village on the day of polling, he said. He said that the YSR Congress leaders were removing those leaders. He also alleged that the YSR Congress leaders were also removing the votes of those who went to other places in search of work. These migrant labourers are mostly the supporters of the TDP, he said.
The Pedakurapadu MLA is aware of his impending defeat in the coming elections, he said and added that the MLA was forcing the officials to remove the TDP votes from the voters list. He made an appeal to the people to ensure that their names are in the voter list. If they don’t find their names, he asked them to ensure that they are included in the list.
