Having decided to hold this year’s Mahanadu in Vijayawada, the ruling Telugu Desam Party had finalised the venue at V R Siddhartha Engineering College at Kanuru on the outskirts of Vijayawada. The TDP leaders have also performed bhoomi pooja on Thursday to start the preparatory works including dais and decoration.
The venue has spacious grounds for parking. The two more institutions in the adjacent, Siddhartha Law College and the PVP Institute of Engineering would be an additional advantage for the party to use those campuses for parking and other requirements. The spacious auditorium available in the college would be an added advantage for the party to shift the events indoor in case of rain.
The party had formed 14 committees to take care of the arrangements. Starting from registration, the committees will look into every aspect to make the event a success. The onus would be on the food committee as Mahanadu is known for delicious dishes that increase the satisfaction level of the cadre towards the leadership.
This year’s Mahanadu is going to be a key event as it is being held ahead of the general elections and also in the fight against the BJP leadership which would fetch more votes for the party. A committee has been formed to prepare the draft resolutions on the party’s strategy on these two issues – elections and fight against the BJP. The draft resolutions would be ready by May 20, seven days ahead of the Mahanadu which would start on May 27.
In all probability the political resolution which is set to hit the BJP hard is likely to be prepared by Chandrababu Naidu himself as he believes that his slogans against BJP as the potential enemy would be the key issue when the party goes for the elections. Chandrababu Naidu wants to project BJP as the villain for this election, as he had projected the Congress as villain in the 2014 elections for bifurcation. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s corruption would continue to be the second issue for TDP’s campaign this time too.
