Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been repeatedly focusing on skilling and has been urging youth to get proper skills and training to thrive in their career and life. But it seems, he has forgotten to give the same advice to his colleagues. The way Konda Surekha attracted negativity with her irresponsible and derogatory comments, not only hurt her, but also Congress Government.
The damage done by Konda Surekha has been so devastating that it has led to a rethink over Revanth Reddy-led Congress Government’s conduct. Influential people from across sectors and political affiliations are finding fault with Konda Surekha’s comments, stressing on the need for effective image and perception management for Revanth’s team.
Though Konda Surekha is known for her outspokenness, her comments have clearly gone out of context in case of Samantha and Naga Chaitanya divorce. Not just Konda Surekha, even certain comments made by CM Revanth Reddy and other Ministers have also not gone down well in the past.
The derogatory language used by Revanth Reddy against BRS leaders did attract criticism from various quarters. While Congress cadres defended Revanth using dirty words against BRS leaders as a ‘tit for tat’ strategy, neutral observers stressed, ‘How is Revanth Reddy different, if he behaves the same way as KCR?’.
Revanth’s comments on Sabita Indra Reddy also led to protests by BRS cadres.
Even very recently, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s comments were disapproved by opposition parties, activists and political observers. Ponnam warned not to post videos of HYDRA victims and Musi demolitions in social media. His oppressive conduct got backlash from Telangana society, which does not tolerate dictatorial tendencies.
Even senior Ministers, though were not caught in controversies, are yet to make a mark in the public. Barring Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, other Ministers are yet to get a complete hold of their Ministries and focus on image management and PR strategy.
It has been almost ten months and Revanth Reddy Sarkar will soon complete one year of its rule. But it is yet to make an impact on state’s governance landscape and create a postive image for itself in public mind.
In these days of ‘personality driven politics’ the image of a leader defines the performance of Government and popularity of the party. So, it is crucial for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his Ministers to work on their image management, as they are the ones who represent Congress Government. Unfortunately, Revanth Reddy and his team, seems to be completely oblivious to this indispensable political fact.
