Telangana stood at number Five in the NCAER State Investment Potential Index (N-SIPI), moving up from 13th position in 2016. Telangana along with Haryana is the only state that has significantly improved in rankings. It ranks top in DIPP score, digitization of land records and perception on business climate
The N-SIPI is constructed under six broad pillars – land and labour, infrastructure, economic climate; governance and political stability and responses to the survey.
Telangana fared decently in the land, labour and Survey pillars. Telangana is seen to be the second-best state for maintenance of law and order after Gujarat
In Land pillar Telangana ranks second while in labour pillar it ranks third. The report cited that the strengths of the youngest state as digitalised land records, high labour force participation rates and competitive wages in manufacturing.
The report quoted that the Poor infrastructure and poor governance as two main fragilities. Even though Telangana ranked among the top five in population in million-plus cities, the state falls short on road and rail density and ground water availability.
Gujarat, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jharkhand are seen to be states with excellent supply of power. Also, Gujarat, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana and Tamil Nadu are the top six states for business investment potential.
