Telangana CM Revanth Reddy raised voice against Centre’s proposal to take up delimitation of Constituencies, calling it as a vendetta towards south India. Speaking in India Today conclave in New Delhi on Friday, Telangana CM came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP-led Government at Centre.
As southern states are expressing their opposition to delimitation exercise, CM Revanth Reddy also joined the league of Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and others, who have already clarified their stance against delimitation.
“BJP has come back to power for third time in the Centre, but it still does not have hold in south India. For instance out of 240 seats it won in Loksabha polls 2024 only 29 came from south India. Therefore BJP is trying to seek revenge on south India by taking up delimitation exercise,” alleged Telangana CM Revanth Reddy making acerbic comments.
Revanth Reddy pointed out show states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar will get increased representation in Parliament while south states will lose, if delimitation exercise is taken up on the basis of population.
“It was Centre which introduced population control program and southern states have successfully implemented. But Centre is trying to punish south Indian for making family planning program success. Let Centre postpone delimitation exercise by 30 years. We will show how south India can increase its population,: further said Telangana CM Revanth Reddy.
Revanth Reddy urged Centre to take up delimitation basing on 1971 Census and also conduct all party meeting to discuss on the all-important exercise, which will impact the Indian democracy.
