Telangana to call for a meeting of Rural Development Ministers of all the states in the country to mount pressure on BJP led Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on strengthening of three-tier Panchayat Raj institutions in the country
Hyderabad: The Telangana State government expressed its intention to take a lead in calling for a meeting of all the states in the country on how to strengthen the three-tier Panchayat Raj system in the country. This was disclosed by Telangana State Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Ramarao, after a meeting with the Union Minister for Rural Development Birendra Singh in Delhi on Monday.
Explaining how the development in the rural yards of the country are facing problem, KTR said that the Union government has been directly providing funds to the village panchayats. This has made the people’s representatives at mandal level and Zilla Parishad at district level to remain for name sake only.
Appreciating the Telangana state initiative to strengthen the three-tier Panchayat Raj system, the union minister assured to discuss the issue with the NITI Ayog, where all the state would express their opinion on this, and also take a decision after consulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following this, the KTR expressed his state’s willingness to organize a meeting with the rural development ministers of all the states in the country by the end of January in Delhi to mount pressure on the Centre on the issue, he said.
