At a time the ruling TRS is happy for successful conduct of winter session of Telangana assembly for 18 days, the longest ever held session since formation of the new state, the TDP is making moves to file a `contempt of court’ case against Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary.
According to TDP floor leader A Revanth Reddy, they have taken this decision for not taking action against TDP legislators, who defected to the ruling TRS, within a stipulated time.
He recalled that the High Court had directed the Speaker to take action against the defectors within 90 days, but he had failed to take any action. Besides, he deplored that the Speaker has declared that TDP had only three legislators on the floors of the House which was contrary to the report submitted to the High Court.
Revanth Reddy also dismissed government claims for meaningful conduct of the winter session. He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao did not allowed Cabinet Ministers to make statements or reply to queries.
“Discussions in the House accounted for a total of 94 hours, and 54 hours of this time was taken away by the government. And of this 54 hours, the Chief Minister, the two ministers – K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao garnered 30 hours while the rest of the ministers accounted for just three hours,” he added.
