The world is witnessing a fast-paced society which wants quick changing news at every moment. In this era, newspapers must keep pace and consequently build the organization’s culture that the digital world requires. In today’s fast paced world of instant to stay in competition and not become a thing of past, newspapers need to publish well-run news.
Telangana today (TT) had a news item ‘SpaceX set to fly first cargo from historic NASA pad’ in its page11. The news item speaks about the preparations being done for the launch of SpaceX Falcon9 rocket.
As everybody knows, SpaceX aborted its flight plans yesterday due to issues with the rocket. This was covered on front page of ‘The Hans India’. Evidently the Hans had a better update on the news compared to TT. Instead of publishing it in page11, TT should have published it in the page8 Rewind in the looking back section.
This aborted mission gains significance especially with the counterpart New York Times mocking India over the launch of 104 satellites. NYT went on to call the satellites launched by ISRO ‘Little Doves’.
In an era where social media platforms have become the go-to destinations for news, the new entrant newspaper should at least print a newer update to stay in the competition. The newspaper needs to make moves if they are considering to stay relevant over the longer term. We live in changing times and to avoid becoming obsolete, TT needs to become more efficient.
