Telangana and Andhra Pradesh top in implementing the employment guarantee scheme. The analysis from the center for the current fiscal year, reveals that Telangana tops the chart with 115 percent while Andhra Pradesh follows it closes at 96 percent.
The Center has authorized Telangana for 8 crore personal working days to the laborers for the year 2017-18 under the Employment Guarantee Scheme. In the first five months of April to August, the state has accomplished 9.27 crore working days (115 percent).
On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh was sanction 16 crores working days and so far has completed 15.52 crore (96 percent).
The labour budget estimates sent by Telangana to Centre for 2017-18 was Rs 24 crore days but the centre sanctioned only Rs 8 crore days for Telangana. As per the NREGS act 100 days of work should be provided, but only 39days were provided to 40 lakh workers in the Telangana.
Officials are anticipating that the center will grant additional work days and funding, since the workers will be seeking employment post the agriculture season.
