Two Telugu states are leading the country in electronic transactions in the aftermath of demonetization. At national level while Andhra Pradesh stood in first place, its neighbor Telangana occupies second place. As these two states have already initiated cashless transactions in some sectors ahead of demonetization, the present push for electronic transactions normally providing them east task.
As suddenly the center too putting trust on e-transactions, suddenly such transactions number multiplied in lakh all over the country. As many as 99.82 crore such transactions were reported in Andhra Pradesh from 2016 January 1 to December 5, whereas Telangana registered 73.64 crore transactions during same period. AP is moving towards 100 crore mark in two or three days.
While AP facilitating such facility through Mee-Seva and other online systems for 249 services, Telangana is extending for 228 services. However, presently Telangana is moving very fast in this area and competing with AP to move towards first place.
Though Telangana started slowly, it has speed up the process of e-transactions since last two weeks. On December 1 only it has witnessed 17 lakh transactions, while it was only 7 lakh in AP. During first five days of this month (December) Telangana registers 83 lakh e-transactions, as against 32lakh in AP. However, most of Telangana transactions limited to Hyderabad city only.
Among other states, Kerala seems to be in competitive spirit with Telugu states. Other states like Gujarat, UP, MP, Tamil Nadu and Delhi remained far away. Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders are claiming to be moving towards `cashless economy’, his native state Gujarat and other BJP ruled states progress in this regard not worthy for consideration.
