The reputation of Telugu film industry is being so much maligned by the ‘inside drug mafia’ that Movie Artists Association (MAA) had to recently convene a meeting and give a stern warning to those involved with drugs without divulging their names. Telangana Excise department has issued notices to 10 individuals from Tollywood.
Our internal sources have informed us the names of the Telugu celebs who were issued notices on Thursday. Heroes – Tarun and Navdeep, top director Puri Jagannath, actresses – Charmee and Mumaith Khan, cinematographer Shyam K Naidu, character artistes – Chinna and Subbaraju were served notices. The said celebs were served notices by authorities based on conclusive evidence from various sources.
It may be recalled that a Special Task Force had busted a drug racket in Hyderabad a couple of days ago. Upon investigation, it was found that children studying in city’s corporate schools and of VIPs, and several from IT sector and Telugu film industry were the customers of this drug gang.
In fact, several Telugu film celebs have earlier been caught in various drugs’ related incidents. As TFI bigwigs didn’t take the issue seriously, the drug menace has become a carpet bomb in Tollywood. There is no shortage of drug peddlers, users and addicts in TFI now.
Hope the latest actions being taken by Enforcement authorities and MAA eradicate drug menace in Tollywood from the roots.
