Theatre owners along with the distributors and producers across South India stepped out with an indefinite strike with the huge hike in digital charges imposed by UFO / CUBE / PXD. Thousands of theatres across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala have been closed with the strike after the negotiations with the digital providers failed. Now, the digital providers accepted the demands and came up with the new digital charges after which the theatre strike has been called off.
All the 1700 theatres across AP and Telangana will start screening films from tomorrow. The flat rate which was earlier capped at Rs 22,500 has been brought down to Rs 20,000. With not many major releases this week, theatre owners would be facing tough time to screen films. Nikhil’s Kirrak Party, Kalyan Ram’s MLA and Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam 1985 are the major releases coming this month.
