During this elections season. defections from one party to the other party are in full swing. Whoever not getting MLA ticket from the party are wasting no time by continuing in the same party and immediately jumping into other parties. Now veteran congress leader Shankar Rao also followed the same path. Remember Shankar Rao? The one who wrote a letter to initiate CBI inquiry into Jagan’s disproportionate assets? And that letter was taken up as PIL by court and the case on Jagan is still going on. Now Shankar rao resignes to Congress party and joined Samajwadi party.
Shankar Rao was first elected in 1983, as an MLA for the Shadnagar constituency. He was subsequently re-elected for that constituency in 1989, 1999, and 2004 elections. In 2009, he won from Secunderabad Cantonment Constituency. In 2014 he didn’t contest. He served as Minister in the cabinets of Kotla and YSR. He was also Deputy CLP Leader in congress. Now he wanted to contest again from Shadnagar constituency but party denied ticket to him.
He joined Samajwadi party in the presence of Simhadri, Telangana president of SP party. Congress gave ticket to Pratap reddy. So, Shankar Rao’s long journey in Congress party came to an end. We will have to wait and see if still wins in Shadnagar on Samjwadi party ticket.
