Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the new Integrated Terminal Building at the Tirupati Airport, on Oct. 22, 2015.
The new Integrated Terminal Building, with Car Parking, Apron for two Code ‘D’ and one Code ‘C’ type of Aircrafts with Link Taxi and associated infrastructure, cost an approximate Rs. 191 crores to build.
The new terminal building has been designed, driving inspiration from the shape of Garuda (Eagle) in-flight with its wings flapping/spread in air. Garuda is the divine carrier serving Lord Vishnu also known as Lord Shri Balaji. The idea of designing an airport terminal in the shape of Shri Balaji’s aviation expert in action can be expected to bond well with the passengers headed to Tirupati as their pilgrimage destination.
The Integrated Terminal Building capable to handle 500 Domestic and 200 International Passengers at a time, is a steel and glass structure with state-of-art modern passenger friendly facilities and services. Some of the most impressive facilities include

Energy efficient and ecofriendly material like Fly Ash Bricks, Low Heat Gain Glass, LED Lighting and Energy Efficient Chillers etc. are used in the building for obtaining “4 – star” rating from the GRIHA.
The new Terminal Building has a peak hour handling capacity of 700 passengers and is built in an area of 16,500 sq.m. (additional 5,500 sq.m. for the basement). The other salient features of the Terminal Building include
